Talking to strangers:
They probably like talking about
their travel last summer or over Christmas
their pets / children / grandchildren / projects / the food at the party/
things they like to cook or eat / any sports team / music /

Talking is about being good a listener and somehow doing
a follow up question sometimes (not always).
You do have a genuine interest in people.
That shows and that's what people at a party would like about you.

something I want to throw out their, is that you could have an interest in what's being said, without even knowing it

1 year when I was in hospital, I met someone who had served in the war. my first thoughts were, oh.. he's going to want to talk about the olden days and what it was like for him before TV, but actually, them ore andm ore I listened, the more and more I took an interest, and the more and more I had questions to ask for him.

just something to think about
Thanks for this!

I have to say that you can get really interested in a persons story. I did this last year and let a woman that I was talking to really talk about her health problems. She talked my ear off. She has GI issues. She knew that I was a nurse and wanted to talk about this issue, so I let her talk. I think I drank too much and really don't remember the conversation that well. So when I saw her again, I was sort of embarressed....
oh well.
