I have a diagnosis of ADD (now inattentive ADHD) along with BP2. I was told that ADD goes hand in hand with Bipolar. Does anyone else have this as a diagnosis or symptoms? I wonder if bipolar just in and of itself leads to being easily distracted. I'm like the dog from up most the time...squirrel! I was told I would need to go on ADD meds too and that I need a physical or doctor approval prior due to the effect the meds could have on me. I'm not in any shape at all, except round which is technically a shape, so they are worried about me for some reason. I really do not want to go to a primary doctor so I never get the physical.

So what say you other Bipolar champions, do you have ADD too? Are you just easily distracted? Are you on meds for it? Can you too prevent forest fires...wait, skip that last one.

I have bp1 and adhd as well. You nailed it perfectly, everyone teases me about being the dog from Up. Whenever I'm not paying attention or am not focused the wife just says "squirrel" and I try to refocus my attention. Kinda like our own code word. But my family does enjoy teasing me about it. On a funny side note, we were in Dallas one time on a family trip and we were talking about something and out of the blue I yelled out "Squirrel" (those are a rare sight for me since I live in the desert) and I really did see a real squirrel and everyone thought I was making fun of myself and not paying attention to the conversation (to be fair, I really wasn't listening to the conversation since my mind drifts a lot). Everyone laughed and they still tease me to this day about it. What can I say, I'm easily distracted and fascinated by squirrels.

I have the shortest attention span known to man (not really known to man but close enough, lol). I'm currently on adderall for my adhd and for the most part it does well in giving me focus (not 100% but a whole lot more than usual).

I think that is what the pdoc wants clearance to give me.

Thank you! I LOVE batman... and DC really.

I didn't have to take any tests for it but I guess each doctor is different. I'd say do it cuz it really helps... or at least it does for me.

I am ADD and BP2. I take straterra because I became too fond of Adderall and abused it. Most of the meds are stimulants so they probably want too be sure about cardiovascular health.

I have bipolar 2 and ADD , anxiety disorder with panic. I feel like I don’t know if I’m coming or going most of the time . My brain is like a scanner that never shuts off. I feel like none of my meds work and every day is a struggle to function, if at all. I don’t know anyone else with these mental illnesses. Feel alone .
