I have zyprexa as a PRN and I have needed it for the last couple days. All I can do on it is sleep and eat. How do people take it every day? I know some of you do...how do you handle it?

I was on in for a month at least 6 years ago , all I did was eat , gained 30 lbs and couldn’t do anything. I didn’t sleep more I just sat around staring at things.

I’ve been on it for about a month and I’ve gained ten pounds. It like I’m not even hungry but I just want to eat and eat until I’m stuffed. I’m trying to fight back starting today with a low carb diet and keeping sugar free candy around for when I feel the need to just eat mindlessly. Dunno if it’s going to work.

I’m definitely much more tired as well. My program pdoc reduced the dose to only 5mg last Tuesday and I’m still super tired and super eating. And to top it off I’m depressed again.

Idk what to do.

My Pdoc lowered my dose (15 mg to 10 mg) when all I did was eat and sleep. I eat more then I use to salty thing mainly. It helps so much but not as much as the higher dose. I still need a nap if it's not a busy day. I sleep for about 10-12 hours now when not in episode. 5 or so when in episode. Pdoc gave me ambien for when that happens. I've gained a lot of weight on the higher dose my cloths barely fit now and that's a big problem for me. I have to learn how to re-eat. Not just starve then binge eat. I'm having manageable psychotic symptoms on the lower dose.

I've been on Zyprexa for years. In the beginning it felt like a bomb had gone off in my head the next morning after taking it---I actually fell asleep on the toilet---but I eventually got used to it. I guess it was about six weeks before I went back to sleeping normally (8-9 hours/night). I also gained weight but have since lost it and a lot more besides.
