I have bipolar disorder. Noise really, really bothers me. Our neighbor has been doing remodeling on his house now for about 3 months. Usually 3 or 4 days a week, from 8:00 a.m. until dark. He does take breaks but not many. He is out in his front yard, with a table saw, running the saw & other LOUD equipment. I can't focus on reading or watching movies at all when he is out there. I am afraid to go over & talk to him because he & his sister have gotten into cursing arguments with people in their front yard. I can't call noise control because noise is allowed from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm in our town. I am using ear plugs but that is not making a dent in the noise.
I've also been so tense (like most peole) due to all the mass shootings in America. It is scary.
I have a psychiatrist appointment coming up, which also makes me tense.
And I've had 4 appointments (pre-surgery for cataracts) in the last month.
I HATE going to doctors. So this is the most tense time in a long while.
I am on good meds & sleep well but the noise is driving me crazy.
I do not have the money to go anywhere like a cafe to get away. I am not allowed to drive because I get seizures. Any advice????

Is there someone who could give you a ride to the library?

Maybe a note, requesting proper sound proofing. After that I would wait for a time when they went just a little past the noise control time period and call it in. They're bound to be a little late at some time or another. Enough warnings and maybe something will be done. Until then I agree with Vertigo, go somewhere else you feel comfortable. Maybe a quiet coffee shop, a park, or a friends/ families house. In addition, maybe investing in some sound proof ear muffs.

What about running a fan ? background white noise might help you a little bit.. headphones? Maybe play some music you enjoy rather loudly will drown out his noise.

Sorry that you have to deal with the constant noise.
