Is it or isnt it?

Today i started my period for the first time in over a year. I also saw friends for lunch. I was very talkie and very speedy walking. Is this enough to qualify for hypomania? I ve had mania and i know it wasnt that.

Could be a hormonal surge? I would stop retaining water when my period started and then start walking faster - thats why they give racehorses Lasix (diuretic ).

According to diagnostic criteria, you must meet 3 of these symptoms (4 if the mood is only irritable), for at least 4 days:

-Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity
-Decreased need for sleep (e.g., feels rested after only 3 hours of sleep)
-More talkative than usual or pressure to keep talking
-Flight of ideas or subjective experience that thoughts are racing
-Distractibility (e.g., attention too easily drawn to unimportant or irrelevant external stimuli)
-Increase in goal-directed activity (either socially, at work or school, or sexually) or psychomotor agitation
-Excessive involvement in pleasurable activities that have a high potential for painful consequences (e.g., the person engages in unrestrained buying sprees, sexual indiscretions, or foolish business investments)

I think the tricky thing after being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder is becoming paranoid about each and every small mood change, wondering if it could be hypomania/mania, or depression. Mood fluctuations are normal to a degree in humans, it need not always be an "episode".

Just keep an eye on things, but don't automatically assume it's hypomania if you are feeling a little bit more up than usual.

Its just that its reminding me of when ive been manic- or at least ramping up to it. Ive also had lots of visual hallucinations.

If you think you might be manic or on your way then you should treat it as if you genuinely are manic. You don't want to fool with it. Also the visual hallucinations should be very worrying. Best thing: get a hold of your doctor.

It seems that eveeyone is going to harm me. I tee s an extremely unsettling feeling to have.

I keep buying things "for christmas".

Sounds like your going up based on your past episodes..... Can you up your Zyprexa to head it off sooner rather than later?

Now I feel all slow physically and mentally. I took my kids out for lunch/dinner and my son wouldnt eat.im supposed to go to church choir with him in an hour and a half and what with hallucinating all afternoon and now this feeling id rather curl up in a ball. Up down up down?

Still hallucinating and going to the physical dr tomorrow a.m. i hope they can fix it.
