I was in a therapy group in real life for a short while. I have social anxiety so it was very hard for me to talk in the group. The subject of parents came up
![]() ![]() I was the black sheep in the family. I received the blame and shame, and in this group I felt the same. Growl. Parents divorced, I was kicked out. The group member attacked me because I was hurt by the parents’ lies. He didn’t know me at all, I’d never spoken to him.. this was the first “session” ![]() Just wondering if this is “normal” in group therapy. ![]() In theory I might try group therapy again although this experience wasn’t encouraging ![]()

Many meetings have cross-talk procedures but sometimes can get sloppy. I wouldnt give up on group therapy as it can be incredibly beneficial.
Sad to say when there are groups of any people some may be insensitive and come off the wrong way and maybe the person didnt realize they were coming off in a negative manner. |
