Got to gym today, no surprise, but 15 minutes later than usual on Sundays. I was feeling like garbage and was about to grab my blanket, and turn on the massage and heat cushion to take a nap, but got out of the truck to go in anyway.
Walked in with a nice lady that I've spoken with a few times here. Polite conversation turned deep quickly. She invited me to a Buddhist meditation this week. This is geared toward addicts but open to anyone. I'm an addict in several ways, but I won't say it there. I'm addicted to self loathing, self neglect, wallowing the past, and exercise. She's new to the ideas of becoming awakened and aware as well. I knew there was something, some reason though unknown to me, that I needed to talk to her much more than the first time I saw her or the other few minor conversations. Now I think I know what it is.
The Universe keeps telling me to pay more attention to my spirituality, and it blatantly invited me today. I went from feeling like crap to knowing truly why in a few minutes. I've been neglecting myself spiritually and wallowing in my own crapulence of self-loathing, backsliding because I was feeling alone and lonely. I'm never alone, because we are all parts of the one Universe.
This is exactly the sort of thing I have been needing desperately. Serendipity in its finest form.

I'm really pleased to hear that.

I'm not a Buddhist, but I like much of how they operate.

Good luck.

I'm not any religion. I'm pleased to remember I'm not alone.
I emailed the person that does the class for info like if there's a cost/donation, expectations of me, if it's ok I don't have chemical addiction. I always prefer to get information doubly certain. It's a kind of OCD and insecurity thing

Yeah there's no harm in checking. Seems sensible.

Hopefully, they'll waive donations if it makes it tricky.

You have a lot to offer. This woman's clearly seen that.

What do you mean by this? "You have a lot to offer. This woman's clearly seen that"

The (few) Buddhists I've met were very, very nice.

But one of them did call into my workplace a few times. I'm not one for 'joining' things. Especially when people want me to. She was just being friendly, but I extrapolated from it that when they meet someone they think would be good for their group, Buddhist practitioners might go ahead and canvas them.

As I say, it's just personal experience.

That's what I meant.

She thinks you're good for her group, and will help you overcome any obstacles.

My obstacles are mostly self-imposed at this point in my life. I hope at juncture I can overcome them or at least cope with them.
I don't know how I feel about denying things I enjoy to myself, but there might be some usefulness in it. Certainly overall there seems to be a lot of good in Buddhism, but also in any other religion. I think we all want the same things, love and understanding.

The host did reply and seems nice, though has terrible spelling ability. I think it will be an experience of some sort, anyway. Only one way to find out.

This went well. I've changed it from a single calendar event to recurring. Serious, meaningful sharing with very deep people that I didn't have to type to. I love you folks and will be here too. To be in the same room with other people that aren't afraid to be afraid was very personal to me. I was touched by their acceptance of me. Beautiful.
