This is only my second time being hypomanic. So far it is mild and no where near as bad as before. It has actually been fortuitous that this is happening right now. I had an important meeting that I really needed to say a lot but if I wasn’t hypomanic I never would have. My pdoc says to ride this out and enjoy it while I can. Hoping to not get too high or have a bad crash.

My pdoc would try to stop it in it's infancy so that it does not turn into a full on manic episode.

Just had a huge fight with my mother. Maybe this hypomania is bad.

It's good you can recognize it. How was your first hypomania? That will give you some clues to watch out for.

would love to know more: How does someone stop hypomania before it gets worse: Avoid stimulating situations? Take more meds? I posted a few weeks ago asking how to avoid mania coming on from being in a very stimulating restaurant celebrating a friend's birthday....not even more meds, a hot bath, kept the insomnia at bay. Looking forward to your reply.

First time I was constantly talking and really fast. Not sleeping. Cleaning the house and moving furniture in the middle of the night. So I don't want to get that bad. Right now the symptoms are mild and having a good mood is such a nice change from the depression where I normally am. So they want me to enjoy the break. Pdoc is ok with mild hypomania. He did increase my seroquel to try to keep it there and hopefully make the eventual crash not too bad.

Anti psychotics will do the trick.

Avoid stressful situations if you can, avoid caffeine and alcohol, be careful to take your meds at the correct times, and let your family know.

If you aren’t sleeping, that is an urgent problem—call the doc.

Seroquel doesn’t work on me, it just helps me sleep. I have to have Olanzapine to knock me back down. It is fast-acting.

Hypo just feels gooood ! and it doesnt "always" mean you are going to crash and burn. I leveled out many times from Hypo. Just be self aware and so a self check daily.

If your sleep sharply decreases thats a huge red flag , best to let your Pdoc know then

Right now I just feel so revved up and want to be confrontational with my family again. I am just so tired of biting my tongue around them. When I am depressed I don't have energy for a fight. But now that I do I want to get all my pent up thoughts out.
Energy and racing thoughts are not a good mix for me right now.
