Has anyone walked around (their home, work, mall, etc) and felt that their environment isn't real? Well, felt that nothing is real in general.

I feel that everything is not real, yet I know it HAS to be real.

I don't want to ask my coworkers because I don't know how they would react if I told them. Sometimes people don't believe me.

I wouldn't say things are "fake", per se, but it's more like, "is this real? This doesn't seem like it's part of my life." Like, I'm living in an alternate reality.

I haven't had that happen but my mom told me the only real world is God's, our world is a dream.

Yes, I experience derealization ALL the time. When I was younger this used to send me into a panic attack, but now I am usually okay I just remind myself that it will pass.

For me it usually lasts about a maximum of thirty minutes. Hope this helps, hope you feel better.

I have the same feelings at times.

When it’s happening a lot I have to really work on my self grounding and fact checking.

Hope your feeling better soon

I have had this feeling before but mostly when I'm beginning my ascending to mania. Then I not only feel like nothing is real, but that I'm in a parallel universe. I even spend a lot, and I mean A LOT, of time researching parallel universes and physics (which I usually despise). Like Christina, I spend a lot of time self grounding and fact checking.

Thus isn't quite the same but feel i get a lot of dajavu, like I've been somewhere in the exact same place with the exact same surroundings and it's not the usual places either like work or home. It's just an odd feeling. I think I know what your saying though.

I experienced such disconnection from reality few times when my anxiety was very high. That was before I got diagnosed with BP though.

When I was young and not diagnosed I used to feel like I was not real. I thought other people and things were real but felt like I was not real, or not really there.

Did it feel like you were looking at the world through someone else's eyes or some sort of peephole or looking glass? Sounds also seemed weird and distant? You were not there? That's how it felt to me. Luckily, I haven't had this for couple of years.

It has cost me a lot of money to lose contact with reality. Consider yourself lucky.

Yup. Like everyone else was part of a world I was trying to get to but I could never reach it. It went on for years when I was very young. Now it only happens intermittently when I’m depressed. Very disturbing. It felt almost like I was a 2-dimensional cutout trying to figure out how to get into a 3 dimensional world. My head is a weird place!

This was probably the worst and weirdest feeling I ever had so far. So I can totally relate. Although, in my case, it seemed to be related to anxiety. Klonopin would get rid of this in couple of hours.

Yes. During mania. And it sets the stage for me becoming something like a sociopath temporarily. If this isn't real, then I can do anything I want without consequence.

I did this in a lucid dream: told people they werent real and then said a bunch of mean things to them.

Wow. That's pretty scary. I wasn't dreaming per se, but I was living in an alternate reality (mania) where I was the center of the universe...like a god. I played with people like they were video games made for my enjoyment. Ugh. I don't ever want to go back to that. It didn't make me a very popular guy in the end. I think this is very different than the original posters' problem. But I couldn't help to notice some similarities.
