How the f*** do you get hired?
It's been about 4 months since I got fired. I'm a young college drop out with no real accomplishments. I cant work full time so I'm looking for part time anything.
I'm starting to get really frustrated. I want to move away from here but financially cant. When I think about how I cant seem to get hired I get suicidal thoughts too.
I'm thinking about disability, but the thing is I can work, and 20 hours a week working actually helps. It's just finding a job that stresses me to the max. I'm also thinking about volunteering, but I dont know anywhere around here where that's an option.

Sorry to hear that you are having those struggles. If you don't mind me asking, what were you doing prior to being let go four months ago? Is it a field that you want to continue in or do you feel it is time to try something new?

I don't have a degree, either. Even though I have a job I am desperately looking for new employment elsewhere. Many places won't talk to you without a degree of some kind on your resume, but there are still a good number of employers that don't discriminate in that regard. You just have to keep plugging away at it.

Are you on any kind of unemployment? Knowing you have some kind of monetary benefit in the meantime to help you get by can lighten the stress level. However, some may be inclined to say the fear of not knowing how you are going to pay the rent is motivation enough to get a job anywhere doing anything so you don't starve. If you aren't starving and have the basics covered, you can hopefully then focus your search on more lucrative job opportunities.

Is there a temp hiring place around you like manpower? Is jobcorps an option for you? Have you tried your local vocational rehab? Pet shelters or library always need volunteers.

I'm in a similar situation. I did start volunteering and it helps. I'm going to call vocational rehab tomorrow. I need to work part time too and cant seem to get anywhere.
