Hi all, to those on lamotrigine I have a question. Since I went up to 100mg twice daily the veins on my hands, lower legs and feet have become enlarged. Not 100% of the time but enough that it’s noticable and it creates alot of pain in my feet in the evenings in particular. It can be so bad it’s painful to walk and can keep me up at night. Coincidence? Or possible side effect?

I've been on Lamictal for years and never had that side effect, but we are all different. Hope you get some answers. Big hugs.

Look up the side effects on Lamictal on www.drugs.com Researchers on a new med write down every conceivable side effect from the med they are testing on people, before it becomes an approved drug. That is why the side effects lists on this website are so long. If your condition is not listed, then IMO it is very unlikely that it is Lamotragine causing you problem. Here is the link for this med. Your side effect does not appear to be listed.
https://www.drugs.com/sfx/lamotrigine-side-effects.html This website also lists the side effects by medical specialty for medical professionals. For example, nervous system, ocular, and gastrointensital. Then it lists all of the references were used to compile this information. Here is the entry for psychological side effects of Lamotragine followed by the entry for cardiovascular side effects. You may need a medical dictionary to help you understand some of the terms used. I have included a link to one at the bottom. I have listed cardiovascular since it is the only specialty involving the vascular system, but it may not apply to you. Psychiatric Common (1% to 10%): Depression, anxiety, irritability, disturbance of concentration, emotional lability, abnormal thinking, nervousness Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Apathy, euphoria, hallucinations, hostility, depersonalization, memory decrease, mind racing, panic attack, paranoid reaction, personality disorder, psychosis, sleep disorder, stupor, suicidal ideation Rare (less than 0.1%): Delirium, delusions, dysphoria, manic depression reaction, neurosis. Postmarketing reports: Aggression, nightmares Cardiovascular Common (1% to 10%): Chest pain, migraine Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Flushing, hot flashes, hypertension, palpitations, postural hypotension, syncope, tachycardia, vasodilation >>>Here is a link to the medical dictionary that I used<<< https://www.merriam-webster.com/medical Last edited by Tucson; Jan 17, 2018 at 01:32 PM. |

Thanks a bunch for the info Tucson! Interesting under cardiovascular is hot flashes (started for me at 25 mg) and vasodilation. I see psych next week so will bring it up. In the meantime I’ve been looking up ways to lessen the pain.
