Dealing with anxiety/depression for a while now, The biggest issue the past year has been mood swings. For a day or two at most I will be happy clear excited and positive but like Clockwork I will switch over to depressed Hopeless negative angry and foggy. Also this irritable restless stir crazy feeling usually at night like I need something to do or I’ll lose my mind. I exercise every day eat very well and I don’t want to rely on medication. Does this sound like a bipolar disorder? Thank you

Hi daveanthony. Welcome to Psych Central. Sorry you are suffering from mood swings. As a community of peers it is not possible to give a diagnosis. Only a psych professional can do that.

This may be of interest
https://psychcentral.com/disorders/b...rder-symptoms/

you can find other articles by using search box on that page upper right or google "Psych Central" and topic of interest.

That doesn't sounds like MY bipolar, so I really don't know. Best bet if you are concerned is to see a doctor. They are really the only ones who know for sure. Good luck.

No one can diagnose you here. FWIW a diagnosis of bipolar 1 requires at least one episode of mania, which is a fairly specific diagnostic. There are softer forms of bipolar but those are more controversial. Maybe if you were busier and just dead tired at the end of the day then the restless energy might lessen. Even within any diagnosis (and I'm not saying that you do or don't have a mental illness) there are huge variations in functionality and quality of life. You definitely want to be on the high functioning side no matter what so lifestyle changes are the best bet over all esp that you are not interested in medications. What I'm suggesting is to treat the symptoms irrespective of their origin. It could also be ADHD type of things or part of anxiety.

It sounds like a mood disorder. Only a doctor can diagnose these kind of things.
