I just got approved for SSDI - in less than two months. I know it is very rare to be approved so soon, but I have had 12 hospitalizations to date, tried most meds, and have three attempts in history; the first one via major OD was nearly lethal (several days on a ventilator in January 2009).
So I will become eligible for Medicare, but not right away. When my COBRA coverage runs out (as of October 1), I won't be able to buy comparable coverage via Covered California unless I switch to kaiser. My current doctor is both PDOC and T. I do not want another therapist for sure. But for PDOC - well, if I end up benefiting from ECT, I won't need much medications followup anyway. So my questions are: - do Kaiser hospitals offer ECT? I am pretty sure they do, but want to confirm. - would a Kaiser PDOC work with a non-Kaiser T (whom I will have to pay out of pocket) - do Kaiser neurologists offer BOTOX for migraine prevention? - how do prescriptions work at Kaiser? Even on BOTOX, I require migraine abortive medications that are cost-prohibitive without coverage since I use suppositories that are sent to me on ice from a three month supply pharmacy. Each shipment costs hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Not sure if anyone has experience with physical medicine, chiropractic, physical therapy, dermatology at Kaiser, but these are other specialities that I use regularly. That and PCP of course, and mammography yearly since my mother died from breast cancer metastasis. Thanks! PS My plan is to go back to my current clinic, Palo Alto Medical Foundation (all of my county and adjacent counties are in their system of clinics), as soon as qualify for Medicare. So I will need Kaiser for a year. During a year, I will need 4 quarterly BOTOX injections. |
