When I was going to college my mother talked to my room mate behind my back & convinced him that I was schizophrenic. I was not diagnosed with anything. He was volunteering for the fire department & brought in officers to take me to the mental hospital. I was placed on Zyprexa & totally lost my grasp on reality & was forced to quit college & move back in with my parents. I would not find out about my mother talking behind my back until my wedding day where she confessed to speaking with my room mate to bring me back home. Now my parents have custody of my kids & I'm merely trying to get visitation. My mother was sexually abusive. My father was physically abusive & of course they deny these things as well have made up lies about me making threats to them taking some weird advantage off the school shootings & mall shooting by making it seem like I am some kind of headline threat to them. My question is does anybody out there have some kind of similar story where their parents have maniacally taken control & attempted to keep control well into your adult life?

Hello Shawnio: I don't have anything to offer with regard to your particular situation. However I noticed this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

I don't know, of course, if you're here simply seeking advice with regard to this particular concern or if you plan to hang in here with us. However, should you be planning to continue on (we hope you do)... may I suggest you introduce yourself over on PC's New Member Introductions forum? Here's a link:

There's a lot of support that can be available here on PC. The more you post, & reply to other members' posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are the chat rooms where you'll be able to interact with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) So please keep posting!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
