Why does shopping make me feel so much better? I think I'm out of my funk. I went to the used book store yesterday and bought some books and DVDs.

Retail Therapy

I haven't really bought anything for myself besides meds and food since December.

In other news I finished my reading my first book in a couple years. I really do love these books. They're easy enough to read with my broken brain.

It doesn't look like we're gonna get ice today, so I'll be able to go to the coffee shop later and stuff my face with a muffin and start the next book.

I bought myself a purse yesterday!!! Yes!!! made me feel better, I have no regret or guilt.

It is very well made. Thank you Tjmaxx.

It was only 14.99 but a classic look with suede. I’ll use it forever

Side note. has anyone made one of those chunky blankets by hand using huge wool ? YouTube has a tutorial saying it can be done in 30 mins , looks so easy but 30 mins for me???? Bwahaha!

The wool yarn is what will be the expensive part of course.

I have to be very careful. I get email messages from Best Buy everyday & see new electronic devices I absolutly "have" to have. Ditto with Amazon ideas. I dislike shopping in brick & mortar stores, but the internet sometimes beckons. I just drool on the computer screen 90% of the time. Over time, I've learned to control myself. I cut up all of my credit cards, so I can't go deeply into debt - and keeping a roof over my head & food in my stomach is something I enjoy.

Even though I watch my money, treating myself to a nice meal ALWAYS brings me joy. I think I will go out and buy a new top for myself at the mall soon though. It would be nice to wear something new for once...

But book shopping! Oh wow! I bought SO many books over the years that I have yet to read!

I'm really careful with money since we lived near the poverty level for so long. Most of the time I'd just go to the dollar tree and buy a few things. Really the only thing I buy online is eliquid for my vape and I wait till the sites have sales and buy enough for a month cause it's cheaper than going to a store. I don't really look at much shopping sites online. Every now and then I look at the torrid website and see what's on clearance and decide their clothes still aren't practical. haha.

I've gotten so used to not buying stuff for myself it doesn't cross my mind a lot. I barely buy clothes. I just wear the same stuff over and over that I've had forever. A lot of the stuff has paint on it or holes, but I don't really care. I'm not out to impress anyone. I'm more likely to spend money on my husband or dogs than I am myself. Yes, sometimes I go to the dog boutique and drop $25-35 on dog treats at a time. lol. Hell I feel bad about going to the coffee shop every day and getting a tea and muffin even though it gets me out of the house.

Nice. I have a hello kitty purse my friend gave me for my birthday in October that I have yet to switch over too. Still using my ratty old purse that I got early last summer at a head shop when they had a 25% off everything sale. A lot of the sequins have fallen off and it just looks dirty as hell.

I've seen those blankets. They seem easy to make, but not sure how expensive the yarn is. Looks interesting though.

Shopping during the Super Bowl is nice since people aren’t out. I don’t know if I’ll buy more than the basics, though. I overdid it last summer during hypomania, so I don’t feel I should buy myself anything.

I totally want to do that! I went into a knit shop one time, and they totally discouraged me from it, idk why. They later went out of business - i can see why! I had the money.

I will have to look for that. I have knitted huge blankets, but never any in 30 minutes! I think I’ve only use up to size 15 (or 17?) needles, so you would need much bigger needles to do that. I bought my daughter a children’s knitting kit 2 Christmases ago, and those needles in the kit were HUGE. I don’t think they even make a size that big, but probably would have been size 30 or so, lol. I probably could use those needles though. I have no idea how much yarn like that would be, but I’ve had success using double strands of yarn, one strand from each skein, with big needles. So it could be possible.

I gave up knitting a long time ago - first because of my kids getting into everything and then because I have no concentration and and ability to follow through with projects. But I would consider a 30 minute blanket.

I love those Janet evanovich books. They are such a quick, easy read and she’s a really funny author.

I also always feel better after shopping. Especially if I’m manic.
