Long story short I can’t remember if I took my dose of 100 mg lamotrigine this evening. Pharmacist says to just wait until my next dose tomorrow morning.

My question is if you happened to miss a dose or double up by accident how did it affect you?

I’m trying to not get anxious about this

I think you should listen to the pharm. This sounds reasonable.

Agreed. This is what my Pdoc said to do if I missed a dose

I am always getting paranoid about accidentally doubling up. In fact, that feeling happened to me tonight! I can definitely see how being on the safe side by skipping a dose would be less risky than taking too much. A pharmacist friend said missing one dose shouldn't make that much of a difference.

I took it though since I am 80% sure that I didn't double up.
Once I called a Pharmacist at CVS regarding this when I truly did think I doubled up. I had a little bit of a headache, but nothing extreme. I am on a dose of 400 mg (200 AM and 200 PM), so I was definitely worried about doubling up on such a high dose. Luckily, the Pharmacist said she couldn't find any extreme warnings for accidentally taking another 200 mg. She said some people take as much as 700 mg per day for seizures, so she said I should be ok, but just to be mindful of any unusual changes and not to take the morning dose until talking with the doctor. I still get nervous though.

I think you are wise for consulting with your Pharmacist. I would stick with their advice. You should be fine. I've skipped a dose here and there, and I felt better for doing so, as opposed to taking too much. Nothing major happened to me. I completely understand the anxiety.

Agreed. With your pharmacist (hey hey) and the others. I will say that at higher doses a doubled dose can make you feel pretty crappy -- dizzy, double vision, at least it did for me. I'm much more careful to avoid it now. Waiting is the best policy.

My pill box is seperated by day and night all seven days a week. I never have a problem with doubling a dose. Now forgetting that's a different story.

I take 200mg in the morning and 200mg at night. I accidentally took my morning dose twice and I became so itchy I had bleeding scratches all over my arms. This lasted a couple days. It was very uncomfortable.

For me missing one dose doesn't usually have negative effects (except maybe later in the evening), it's when I forget more than one day in a row that it really affects me.

Thanks for the responses. I followed my pharmacists advice and didn’t take it last night. Was awake at 4am this morning and took my 8am a bit earlier. No negative effects for me missing the one dose. Phew.

Oh and I’m going to buy a 7 day pill box today. I don’t trust my mobile anymore as I had been relying on my phones daily reminder but it deleted by pm med reminder leading to my confusion

Missing one dose doesn't cause me any problems. If I miss more than a day, then I start having issues. I'm thinking you'll be ok.

Also, your idea for a pill box is fantastic. I use one and it really helps me.

I skipped two doses back to back, but it was my baby "don't get the rash" beginner's dose. Later that week I counted my pills and I was missing only one which is odd because I was taking two at a time. I probably just dropped one somewhere.

Anyways, didn't notice any difference for the doses I missed.
