I was triggered by people talking about getting drunk in the main checkin thread so I thought I’d start one for other sober people.

I’ve been sober since Halloween 2015.

A year later I started taking lamictal to treat my complex ptsd/bipolar 2.

As you know alcohol is not recommended while on psychotropic medication.

I also did several years of DBT which again discourages drug and alcohol use.

I am now ramping down my lamictal with the intention of going off it and I’m definitely not interested in losing my sobriety over that.

Me too. Been sober for about a year now, only after almost dying from liver failure. It's hard. I almost fell off the wagon because an argument with my dad...such a jerk...

Cool, glad to know I’m not the only one. I almost fall off the wagon weekly because my daughter is not sober but I haven’t yet.

I have been sober just over a year. I self medicated for years. Once I got on meds the desire to drink left.

Yeah I self medicated off and on for almost two decades. So yeah I’m really committed to a clean and sober lifestyle.

Day 238, a week shy of 8 months. Some semblance of stability has made it easier, though I actually came clean to people during an episode of expansive hypomania. I was more of a down drinker and self medicated for a very long time also. Not out of the woods yet; I have quit for longer and not had it stick. This time feels different somehow; I hope it is.

Had a slip today after being sober for several weeks. I am not proud because I give in because I was stressed.

Day one starts all over again tomorrow.

On Day 99. I've had four long periods of sobriety followed by relapses. I hope this time I can stick with it but the last two days I have been thirsty. Though life isn't perfect,(I thought it would be once I was sober,) it's a lot more fun and enjoyable and manageable.

I have been sober since summer 2015. I didn't see the thread to which you were referring, but I do have triggers none of which have caused me to relapse, yet...thankfully! I am concerned that my mental health could affect my sobriety one day and that my relapsing could affect my grip on mental health. Bad cycle! So I'm very careful to follow my mental illness treatment and alcoholic recovery plans. I'm really lucky to have a strong support system for both, and I try to be a support to others.

As far as a check in goes, I'm in the midst of a medicine transition and I'm doing very well. My sobriety is strong, but I've missed a couple weeks of AA meetings and I feel that I absolutely must attend at least one this week.

Doing well today, got up and made some coffee. The element in my hot water heater went and leaked water everywhere. The plumber came out and fixed it this morning. I have to go grocery shopping later and deal with blue cross. They have my prescription information wrong and I am due to fill abilify soon. Have a great day!

It’s not so much a trigger as serious irritation. I don’t care if people have to get drunk to feel good I just am not interested.

This isn’t so much about sobriety as about not being interested in hearing about people’s drunkalogs. I really don’t care if you have to get drunk to feel good I just don’t want to read about it. It’s a waste of my time and energy.

I slip up, but my goal is sobriety. I've been doing quite well since New Year's, with only 2 slips. Hopefully this will continue. I am so tired of feeling crappy after drinking, especially on these meds (I'm also on Lamictal, among other things). I am tired of the regrets afterwards. Anyway, I'm focusing on moving forward, not backwards.

I’m glad. Sobriety is not an issue for me I just don’t want to read about other peoples drug and alcohol use. It’s boring and like p0rn that I don’t want to see.
