Is anyone aware of this? Sounds interesting. I mean, I have been told to avoid alcohol, but was told it was because it would limit my medication's effectiveness. Adenosine is the molecule that makes you go to sleep. Melatonin helps with it. Anyway apparently the breakdown product is uric acid, and a study found that giving people gout medicine actually helped with manic episodes.

A brief internet search finds many articles associating adenosine with bipolar and schizophrenia.

Interesting! My diet is already pretty low in purines, anyway. So I guess I'm diet resistant.
Thanks for this!

This is really interesting, thanks for the link. Legumes are a big part of my daily diet, and have been for many years...makes me wonder.
