Has anyone here been divorced after being diagnosed with Bipolar disorder? Im open to hearing stories good and bad. Just at a loss right now. Im in an ok place as far as my illness is concerned but just need to hear from others if they have gone through similar things.

I filed for divorce, THEN got diagnosed. Fortunately, it was the right decision for me anyway for many reasons.

It’s really hard to lose your life partner just when you need support such as being diagnosed with a chronic psychiatric condition! But in the long run, you are going to need people in your life who can be truly supportive. Sometimes the spouse you had isn’t going to be able to be that person anyway. Just something to think about.

Diagnosed with bipolar during first divorce. Years of fighting what they though was just depression and I refused to take anything, just worked through it since early teens. First divorce after near decade. Second divorce after well over a decade. Both times during extreme depressive episodes. The keys to make relationship work, be together, for them, them for you. Don't let them burn themselves out, rely and expand a support group to rely on. Have a truly amazing partner of course, and use every tool you can to keep yourself going. Its your fight, or in my case my fight. I'm not the victim, its not fair, but I have to own it.

Plenty make it work. Plenty don't. It takes two to tango. And you tango holding hands, following each others steps and looking into each others eyes.

Didn't answer your question probably... Sozzi bout that

My wife is ready to divorce me. It probably would be the best thing that could happen to me.

I have been divorced three times and I marry again because I need someone to fight with.

There were a few times that my husband would have had every right to divorce me. Those times I was either manic or hypomanic. Diagnosed about two years after marriage.
