My pdoc suggested I start Prozac for depression and anger. She prescribed 10MG. I started the med about a week ago. First thing I noticed is it made me sleepy in the daytime. Then I started taking it at night and I’m still real sleepy in the daytime. I experience the same from Lithium. I started taking B-Complex vitamins and it helped me. Has anyone else experienced tiredness from Prozac?

I used to take it in the morning, and it didn't make me sleepy. It did make me throw up every time I took it though. But it has been very helpful for a lot of people. Meds affect everyone differently.

I started Prozac when I was IP and the pdoc took me off of Cipralex. I found that it didn’t make me tired like Cipralex did but it does absolutely nothing for my anxiety. I’m trying to get another appointment to see about switching. I will say my depression has been better but I did a complete med change so I can’t say if it’s related to Prozac or something else

I took Prozac for about three weeks, then the switch flipped. Mania was home. My employers at the time liked my productivity, though day shift workers hated it, because they couldn't keep up with two people trying. But then the gremlins took over and I started doing things unrelated to work and semi dangerous and even outright dangerous to speed up production to try to really let day shift have it. I had a machine move to the next side while I was changing a part inside a running cnc mill. Danger! Stupidity! Mania! I also started messing with other employees and something got broken. I got fired. I lost my insurance and my Prozac. I found Depression again. I did love THAT kind of high though because street drugs can't do that for me, none of them.
As for the digestion, it made me have very dark and tarry, and painful, excrement every time, and my stomach ALWAYS hurt, but I felt GREAT anyway. I probably had an ulcer but was too manic to notice. |

“Regular” antidepressants do make me tired and lethargic. Have you tried Wellbutrin?

Drowsiness with Fluoxetine is listed as a rare side-effect. Drowsiness is not listed as a side-effect for Lithium. However, unusual tiredness or weakness is. FWIW

I was on prozac when it first came out about 30 years ago. I had an incredible desire to sleep sideways in my bed. Luckily I had a queen bed and was single at the time, so I mostly fit as I was unable to fight this urge.
I've forgotten what other side effects I had as it was so long ago. Eventually, made me hypomanic, and ramped up my already heavy drinking and pot smoking, and then lithium was eventually added to the mix. Not a good time in my life. |

I don’t know about anger...but Lamictal causes me to stabilize on the depressed side...so pdoc added 20 mg to elevate my mood to baseline. Taking anymore will push me into hypomania.
Other AD causes lack of sexual desire, hypomania, drugged feeling...but Prozac seems just fine. |

My last pdoc was afraid Wellbutrin would make me manic so I never tired it

Yes with Lithium I would describe it more as a tiredness rather than drowsiness.

Wellbutrin sent me on a 2 year hypomanic spree...doc kept prescribing more as my depression got worse and worse. Finally quit it and got on stabilizers, lol. 2 years I won’t get back....kinda helped wreck my marriage.

I met with my pdoc this morning. She thought it was best that I stop taking Prozac. I had not taken it in two days so I agreed lol.

Prozac gifted me with my first hypomanic episode. Of course, I had no idea at the time that that was what it was (university). I just thought the world was ridiculously fun all of a sudden.
