Today at 6:30 PM CST my local mental health association is having a bipolar support group.
I use to attend support groups when I lived in
Nashville, TN ( 4 years ago). This will be my first support group in Oklahoma. My anxiety is in overdrive. I’m cooking dinner right now for my daughter.

Think of it like meeting with a bunch of us. No one wishes you ill, and many are dealing with the same sorts of things you are.

Thank you al...dinner is also done. I’m going to relax and eat shortly. I’m going to leave early enough because it’s not in my area. I live in the country. The meeting is in another county

If you haven't left already, have fun. I used to attend NAMI meetings & no one judges anyone. As is the case with any meeting, there are always one or two people who are in love with the sound of their own voices. Don't let that discourage you, though. Go & have fun.

Hello everyone,

The meeting went ok. There was a good amount of people that attended. One man was recently diagnosed and was is having a hard time. It was his first time at the meeting too. Everyone was real nice to him and gave him numbers to call.

Maybe I missed it — was this a BP group session?

I can’t do group. I’m not nice. I would have told the first-timer to just shut up and listen. When I think that I can be nicer, I tend to forget about the whole ‘words have meaning’ thing.

I’m not sure if I’ll go back. The thing I did not like about it is....me and one other person were new. It was our first time visiting. The facilitator did not have everyone introduce themselves. When I went to groups in Nashville. We would introduce ourselves when new people were present.

I’m going to checkout the NAMI support group.
