Do/did any of you play a musical instrument, especially as a coping mechanism?

I bought an electric guitar on Wednesday because it's not too loud to play in my apartment. (I can plug it into headphones.) I'd love to do a keyboard as well, but one step at a time! "Keep it to an electric guitar for now," I'm saying to myself.

I have an electric guitar I plug in like you do. I also have an acoustic guitar. I should be practicing!!!

I hope you enjoy your instruments!

I have an acoustic too, but I wish they weren't so loud. I've tried nearly everything to quiet it down, including using a sound hole cover and putting a sponge underneath the strings to dampen the sound. The only step left is to put clothes or something inside the guitar itself, but I really don't want to do that. I don't want to damage things or get things stuck.

Cool.

I suck at singing. I don't want to make people's ears bleed.

Is it just church choir that you sing in?

Right now yes. Ive been in school choirs from age 13 through college and went to the Interlochen camp at age 15. In high school we also went to Europe where we competed in Vienna and won the top prize.

Oh, how I WISH I played the guitar! Especially an electric one!! What a great way to cope.

I am an artist, but I so wish I was also a musician.

Yes, it is a nice distraction sometimes. I play piano and guitar, although I’m best known for piano.

That is me playing in the clip in my signature below.

I used to be able to play the piano. It has been at least forty years ago. I played some classical, or at least I tried. Not too bad. When I was getting better, I quit. Figures I would do something like that. You play piano well. I like that music you have played.

I think that is great, Tucson. Even if you don’t keep up with it, it is a good experience and fosters an appreciation for music from a different perspective than if you had never played.

I enjoy playing as expressively as I can. Thank you for the compliment

I tried playing violin when I was little, but I wasn’t any good. I do recognize the incredible expressiveness of that instrument—it is amazing and I wish I could pull it off!
