I'm not good with creating websites but what if there were like a "dating" service where people that need expensive medications their insurances won't cover can hook up with rich people who don't want people running around spreading the truth and chlamydia? We could send them selfies and letters about how we're doing. Maybe there wouldn't be enough people to build a website, but on a personal level maybe?

I do not think a rich person would get involved with anything like this, particularly on a regular basis. How would they be able to determine the website is authentic? Also, how would they be able to establish a persons real need for this type of financial support? Just because they are rich does not mean they are giving. They have more important things to spend their money on, such as a house that is worth millions, two trips to Europe ever year, having a chef make their meals at their home, maybe flying across the States just for dinner at an outrageously expensive restaurant. We cannot forget their million dollar toys like boats or personal helicopters. You do have a nice thought though.

I have a friend that lives his life exactly in this way. He is very stingy with his money, but it is his money that he has earned for himself. One time I was desperate for money in order to pay my bills until I get a part time job. He does consider me a brother of his. Getting money from him is virtually impossible. We are talking about a couple thousand dollars. He makes millions a year. Now he has this customer that wants him to build four factories for them. It is almost a billion dollar contract. He and his partner will be personally making at least $100,000,000. Now he is willing to loan a couple thousand dollars to me. It is his money. So I understand that I cannot expect him to loan me any of his money. This is just how rich people operate.

PS He became bored with flying his five seat helecopter around, so he sold it. He still has his $750,000 boat.

Your average rich person, yeah, you're right. But out of all the people that our prescriptions would be chump change, there's gotta be one that would do it, there could be some bargaining involved too. You get my meds and I'll clean the house and sleep with you.

I can see what you last said about also doing something for them. This sounds like a good idea. It will make the “new” money feel really good about themselves by doing this for “needy”, disabled persons, even though the disabled persons will be reciprocating. Make it so they can write it off on their taxes. That may help get their attention. There are rich people that feel guilty about having all thier massive amounts of money. I think this is particularity true if their money came to them as a windfall. This is the type of person to target.

Rich people already have charities they give to, if they're giving at all. Charity auctions, charity events, charity balls. They're not going to suddenly start giving their money away to some obscure unknown person. Isn't what those GoFundMe kind of things are for? As far as doing things for people for money--that's called a job.

Even if something like this would come to be ( never happen) ..... a gazillion people would jump on the band wagon and not even deal with MI as there are no definitive tests to prove any mental illness.

Many Drug companies off low cost or actually free meds if your are low income. Best way to find out is go to there website.

There is this restaurant that hires only people who have MI. It has been a successful business. Those employees because of their MI would not be able to get and hold down a job any other way. Many with MI cannot hold down jobs of any kind. Helping them be more productive in society helps them beyond the monetary value of the job. I am including myself here. I hear that many go to that restaurant for the purpose of helping those with MI through their patronage.

I agree that the type of website being mentioned here would be probably not feasible. However, if such a service can be set up using that restaurant as a model, then there may be at least a possibility in such a business succeeding. The question would be what kind of online service can be offered? The potential money earned would definitely help pay for meds.

It was never a serious idea with exact details haha. I don't even get regular prescriptions anymore. Just toying with ideas, you should try it sometime it's fun!

But the restaurant thing sounds pretty cool, I'd jump on that.

If we would be given the right to be ourselves without shame, more secure and less stressed, we would not get so much out of balance and would need less medication.
