For some reason I can't catch my breath and I'm breathe really hard even when I haven't been physically active. Is this anxiety? Should I see my gp?

I think you should be seen if you are having trouble breathing, but I have 2 further thoughts.

First, if you're truly having trouble breathing you need to be seen immediately.
Second, the trouble you're having is most likely anxiety or panic. The reason I'm saying that is because if you couldn't breath you wouldn't be posting online.

Here's an idea:
Lie down comfortably. Place one hand on your chest. Place the other hand on your stomach. Take a full, deep breath so that only the hand on your stomach moves. The hand on your chest should remain unmoving. Try doing this several times until you have a good pattern of slow, full breathing going on. Don't hyperventilate. Breathe normally, but from the bottom of your lungs. Make sure that only the stomach hand moves.
Thanks for this!

It's been happening everyday for like three weeks now. My anxiety coping skills haven't helped. It's starting to scare me. It's stopped now but my friend had another idea to. I live in a place that's horrendous for allergies. Could be allergies getting me
Too. It's been super bad here this year

Get thee to a doctor. You could have asthma or some other respiratory problem that needs to be diagnosed by a professional. Yes, it could be anxiety, but that too needs to be assessed by someone who knows what they're doing. Go ASAP.

Jesus, yes, you need to see an MD straightaway!

The last two times that I’ve had breathing problems I had pneumonia. But, yes, I’ve had breathing problems when in panic mode, too. The latter caused me much more distress.

Did you get to urgent care yet?

Wheezing isn't caused by anxiety.

I hope you will get to see your doctor soon.
Breathing is important!

I ended up in urgent care. I couldn't breathe others scary. He said I wasn't wheezing and it was anxiety but gave me a breathing treatment and I feel much better. He prescribed an inhaler.
