Earlier this week I went to a neurologist. I gave hm a list of symptoms. I frequently forget what I am saying to another person, forget why I walked to another room, have problems with renmembering my past, two times in my history blanking out for a duration of hours during a day, my hearing and sight getting worse, and now I am confused. All of this has happened before. It kind of cycles. But it is getting worse.
Once I remembered all of this, I found myself surprised at how messed up I am. He is going to do an MRI of my neck, and other tests. Even though it may be my medication, he also thinks it may be “brain spasms”. By the way, this is controlled by the same medication used for epilepsy. How wonderful life can be. ![]() Can most of this be unresearched symptoms of BP? Some here are having problems with their memory. Can my meds be causing this? Some meds are pretty nasty with the side effects. I hope it is not brain spasms. What do you think? Has anyone experience something like this before? PS He administered the quick test for dementia. This turned out negative, meaning this is not what is happening to me, or worse yet, I may have very mild dementia. Who knows? |

I’ve had most of those symptoms except the blanking out. My pdoc has told me it can be a result of years of untreated BP and anxiety. I must admit I’ve never heard of brain spasms (I’ll be googling).
Everyone is different of course, I hope you get answers soon. |

Yes !!!
My symptoms usually float along with my mood. All Depo right now so I’m “ losing a lot of time” maybe that’s a good thing? I wish there is a easy fix ? Meds? but .... can we hope to get so lucky ? Glad your dementia quiz is negative ![]()

I've had two different psychiatrists tell me that my short-term memory loss, lack of focus and word-finding difficulties are a result of a combination of meds and brain damage from repeated severe bipolar episodes. Not dementia. It makes me feel a little better that I'm not developing Alzheimer's, but I can't fix the other problem either because I can't get rid of the BP and I can't stop taking meds.
