Im on 500mgs of seroquel right now and have been drinking on and off, sometimes a lot sometimes a little... and tonight I drank and started not feeling that great and wonder if its the medication or if its just in my head

Anyone have experience drinking on these medications?

I drink a little bit - 1/4 a martini glass of vodka, daily, and that does not seem to have any bad interaction with meds, but you sometimes drink a lot... Also, could it be (I am asking because I have never drunk a lot) that you are not feeling that great simply because you drank a lot, and not due to a bad interaction with Seroquel?

500 mg is a medium-to-high dose of Seroquel, too - an antipsychotic/mood stabilizer dose, not just a sleep medicine dose. So probably talk to the pdoc about alcohol?

I have the occasional beer or cocktail and I take a lot of meds. But the key, I think, is keeping alcohol consumption to a minimum---I'll have ONE beer or ONE mixed drink and that's it. I used to have an alcohol problem, but seem to have gotten past it as I never drink to get drunk. I don't want to be drunk, I just want to enjoy an adult beverage every so often. And I think it can be done safely as long as a person doesn't drink much.

My Seroquel has been dropped to approx 500mg in the past month. However, in addition I’m on other high doses (eg 1350mg Lithium).
I learnt the hard way that I can’t mix alcohol and my meds. In Jan 2017 I was suicidal and I went on a bender. I ended up a few days later in a psych ward and have not drunk since.

I have found that my alcohol tolerance while on meds is low. I can have one, maybe two depending on what I'm drinking (low alcohol %). Otherwise I get really sick. Generally, I don't drink at all now.

My mood swings are pronounced after drinking. My meds don't work. When I drink, I drink alot. I drink alcoholically. Sometimes I can drink a small amount but there will come a time when I binge. It is inevitable. I know me. I have to abstain if I want any kind of stability.

I was a self-medicating drunk for years before I got started on my medications. I wouldn't dream of mixing the two now...besides ethanol is a depressant DRUG. Who needs that???

I only drink one glass of wine on birthdays and my anniversary. If I'm going to drink I don't take my afternoon meds, or else I'm really tired and grumpy.

I may look at not drinking at all from now on, though. I'm sure my liver will be happier.
