I had that happen once. Scary hallucinations. 3 days in the medical hospital with a roommate who yelled about turkey sandwiches around the clock. I did feel much better within a week or so; hopefully you will too.

I just had a tendency towards toxicity. I had to have high levels to feel good and I would teeter over the edge. I had 3 toxicities before we gave up (kept going because it worked so well that when we stopped it I'd feel rotten). The hallucinations one was the 2nd. Somehow my pdoc recognized that what I was describing was neurological and not psychiatric and so I got help quickly. I had not realized I was having symptoms for weeks until the ER doctor started going through it with the resident and I started answering yes a lot.

OMG I'm thinking of going on lithium and I'm really trying to avoid more hospital stays. I've had about 7-8 in the past year alone. I'm going into a slow manic episode right now as a result of getting off my Zyprexa. My last dose was Wednesday (previously thought it was Friday) and I've already started to hear voices. So tired of the hospital.

I can relate to the hallucinations. It's a powerful and upsetting experience. Good for you for getting yourself into the hospital and getting much needed help!

Pdoc just called and appologized profusely. She feels so bad she didnt draw a lithium level when she saw me.

Love that feeling! I was at a facility that usually had showers and that was literally the highlight of my day! A nice hot shower. Glad you're feeling better.

Let me tell you: all that inactivity in a hospital bed is terrible for you! But Im recovering day-by-day. My brain function was so bad that I told them that the president was Truman!! They had to bring out the crash cart at one point my heart rate was so high and I was shaking so badly. Otherwise it was hospital bed, tv and calling people on the phone all day. Boring! I see my psychiatrist this morning. She called yesterday and applologized profusely for not checking my lithium levels last time she saw me. Nathan's picking me up in about 45 minutes for my appointment as Im still not allowed to drive. Before I went to the hospital i almost hit someone with my car! Noah had to shout for me to stop. At dinner the night we went in i dropped my glass on the kitchen floor and it went shatter! Good thing Nataleigh noticed I wasnt acting right. We first went to the psych ER and was diagnosed with delerium! Then they sent me across the hall to the regular ER. I am feeling better every day but i guess as part of delerium my sleep wake cycle has become disturbed. I hope to get that sorted this morning. I basically cant sleep- am wide awake- but i was exhausted when I got out of the hospital at the same time. A bad combination!
