I was IP in May, I was SI. came out feeling well. I than went through another little down phase mid June. I have been taking latuda along with my lithium and depakote. For about 2.5 weeks. I do feel better(I say that quietly cause I always feel it jynx's me). I saw my Doc yesterday and told him I was feeling a bit to good, but wasn't sure if it was just a normal good or hypo good. I am usually in the bottom half of the stability line-depressed. So my sleep is on and off, some good nights , some bad.
When I took my nephew's to the pool I went down the water slides and did dives for them off the board, as I have been a spring board diver since the age of 8. Now not saying my 47 yr old body is not feeling it today is a diff story. Normally I sit at the pool and just tan and am ho-hum. So doc says lets keep an eye on this. I also have been wanting to do drugs and get an even bigger high/lift. I did no tell him that. any advice on to what I should look for or what takes it to the point of mania? I feel in control now. The other problem is , my husband travels for work and is gone for 2 to 4 day stretches. Hypo and mania is kind of new to me. It is normally mild and short lived. ![]() |

I hope you will savor your improved mood, eye2797, and not think about hypomania or mania too much. Just live and enjoy, but please do not do any drugs. That's a seriously horrible idea! If you do drugs then it is highly likely something bad will happen, and there's is a strong chance that you would eventually crash. You don't want that, do you?
Being able to reach a pleasant and active stability and maintain it is a real gift, but it needs to be maintained by healthy living, which does not include illegal or otherwise unprescribed drugs meant to activate a mood. I know from my periods of long stability, that they can bring a wonderful self-discovery, productivity, and relief (for you and others). |

Mania is doing and saying things out of control.

Thank you for this reminder.
I am questioning myself about this since I am bipolar and was taking 60 mg. I've lowered to 40 mg and it is getting a bit better as for all the side effects and extrapyramidal symptoms I am living with right now. Latuda lifted me up, that's for sure but now, I guess I don't need so much. I followed the pharmacist's advice as my doctor is on vacation. She sent him a fax suggesting to lower Latuda and add a prn of 50mg of Seroquel when taking the Latuda with a meal. |
