Are we crazy?. If so, how crazy. Who is half crazy.
What is a crazy person in your estimation. Please, describe.

I'll reserve my input till the end. Let's see if we agree.

In Spanish, when a person does crazy things, we say: "esta loco".
But when a person is really really gone to the deep end, "esta loco de remate".

I want to know when a person is crazy. Where was the bridge they crossed.

I don't think many people consider being depressed or stable crazy, and obviously pretty much all people with bipolar disorder spend time in these states. Really, manic behavior is also ill behavior, but sometimes manic behavior can appear as "crazy" to some people observing the behavior. I can also say thay I've personally felt what the word "crazy" represents, but only in manic or mixed states.

To me "crazy" connotes shocking or abnormal in some outrageous way, either scary or humorous.

I see the word "crazy" as sort of stigmatic at times. In general, it is best not to use it when referring to anyone with a real illness.

I also don't believe we are crazy, even if some here get psychotic from time to time. Some people do live with strange ideas. I was in a psych one time with a man who swore he was Jesus come back to earth. Apparently, he was a long-term case.

My sister just finished doing a geneology on my maternal grandfather's side of the family. There was one family member who struffed corn cobs down all the chickens' throats, killing them, while the rest of the family was gone. He lived out his life in mental institutions, but I don't know that they really tried to help people like that then, in the 1930s and 1940s.

My counselor and pdoc will NOT allow me to use the word when I'm in there office. I feel "crazy" during manic episodes.

There are some beings that society deems as crazy, and there are personal definitions of crazy. Both are subjective and relative to the viewer. It is primarily acting outside of the viewer's norms.

Have I done stuff that would be considered crazy? Yeah. And I have seen people acting crazy, in my point of view. But one's person's crazy is another person's reality, or norm.

Would going to another country and denouncing your own country be crazy?

My sister works in the mental health field and I always told people she works with crazy people when asked what she did for a living. This was before I had a DX.
I look at it as we all have crazy in us, all humans

For me, "crazy" is sitting on my bathroom floor at 2 AM, scrubbing the tiles with an old toothbrush and bawling uncontrollably for no reason. Or dancing on a bar in Ensenada, Mexico without even being drunk first. Or screaming at the top of my lungs that I'm gonna kill a co-worker's abusive boyfriend...at work.

I'm usually very laid back on PC, but the mere labeling of "crazy" really pisses me off. Last week we went down to visit my GF's family, & her brother kept making comments about "being insane." I'm sure he did it because I have BP disorder. He's a d"i"c"k, but I can't kick his arse because he's my GF's brother. I don't have a problem with you examining "crazy," pirilin, since you have a mental illness. It's kind of like the "n-word." I don't feel it's appropriate for folks who aren't black to use it. Same with terms like "crazy."

Happy trails, pirilin.

When I was psychotic I felt crazy. I thought a demon sat on my shoulder. It SCREAMED at me to kill my husband, friends and self. The voice was deafening. (Maybe real??) Good thing I was raised with Christian values, or who knows what I might have done. (I’m not denouncing other belief systems or saying other religions would not be effective in that way, Christianity is just my personal experience.)

I call myself crazy all the time. Not all necessarily because of my diagnosis. I'm a free spirit. I dont care what people think of me. I do what makes me happy, even when people stare at me.

I'll say:
a) When a person doesn't know who he or she is, not for a long time, but forever.
b) Eats feces regularily.
c) Lives in self inflicted pain without knowing they are doing it.
d) There are more, but mediquitis aguditis is preventing me to remember more.

Two examples:

1- A man was carrying more than 80 pounds on each shoulder each day and every day.
I offered him a hundred bucks for the saks to rid him of his pain, and he named my moma.
Then, right away, he invited me to his farm. A hill almost impossible to climb without gear, owned by the goverment.

2- A Haitan woman that spent many ours in a bus stop wrapped in a blanket, head and all, crying out her lungs.
I don't get emotional easy. But that was the first time some event broke my heart.
And the first and last time I've called the pigs.
Their reply: " Oh she does it every day. She's not in danger, or dangerous. Let her be."

If that has another name, please, let me know.
Let me add that, at the time I didn'yt know I had any illneses
