Today I was put on Zyprexa and tonight when I took it I am having really bad restless legs and arms. I have not slept a wink. I thought it would pass and I would be able to get some sleep but I can't sit still for more than like 30 seconds.
I don't know about this medication very much please help |

I was on it for years and I have no memory of feeling this way. But I had a similar situation which includes the ambulance when I overdosed (lucid) on Pregabalin, Lyrica.

It sounds like akathisia. You probably need a lower dose. Even if it's a small 2.5mg you can cut it in half. Akathisia is very common with antipsychotics. Your doc can also prescribe a med that helps with akathisia.

Can you tell your doctor about these symptoms? They sound very unpleasant and no one should have to endure them. You can also contact your pharmacist if you can't get ahold of your doctor. Pharmacists are pretty knowledgeable since they're legally required to know about the meds they fill. They can tell you if it's akathisia, for example, or something else.

I've not been on Zyprexa, but several people in the NAMI group I facilitate are on it and find it very helpful. I agree with bewise - you might need a lower dose.
