After a horrible experience with Abilify I let my nurse practitioner prescribe me Seroquel XR. I requested to start on the lowest dosage, which, I guess, is 150 mg.
I really need some sleep. I think I’ve been in a mixed state since before the universe came to be. I might be wrong though; it could have been only months and months and months. I don’t know. Anyway, when do you take it—after dinner, before dinner, later, earlier? Do you sleep? I want to sleep. |

Hello, while I am not on Seroquel XR I am on Seroquel IR and I take mine about an hour before I go to bed since it is so sedating. If XR is anything like IR you will certainly sleep. I hope Seroquel works for you.

Seroquel XR made me too sleepy to function during the day. My pdoc switched me over to the regular release, 400 mg. I take it before bed. It knocks me right out. Best sleep medication I've ever had. Takes about 15-30 minutes, and I'm out. Much better for sleep than trazodone, at least in my case.

I take 600 mg Seroquel XR at 7 pm with dinner. 8 pm is the latest, or I can't fall asleep until late. Taking it at 7 pm makes sleepy at about 10:30 or 11 pm. Ideally I should fall asleep by 11 or 11:30 pm max. If I don't fall asleep until very late (after midnight) I have a hard time in the morning.
It may take some time to adjust to the medication. Perhaps in the beginning it may seem more sedating than later down the road. |

I took it at bedtime for much needed help for sleep , lifelong insomniac here.
It worked ok but I gained weight regardless of food intake and exercise so I preferred to stop it instead of becoming type II diabetic. It’s a great Med for so many people tho. Everyone is different of course.
