So my pdoc has run out of ideas for my sleep and suggested I see a sleep specialist. Has anyone ever done this and was it helpful?

My pdoc has just done the same. I see the sleep doctor in November.
I am currently taking meds AND vaping mmj in order to get some broken sleep. Are you able to sleep at all? ![]() WC

Not much and when I do sleep it doesn’t feel like I’ve slept. Like I can recall myself having dreams but don’t feel restful.

I am sorry you are having a tough time sleeping.
I hope you can see the specialist soon. ![]() WC

I am getting to the point of wanting to see someone. I am wanting to try mmj, but not legal for me. I tried just CBD vape but didnt do anything for me. I have tried so many meds, and they all wear out.
What will a sleep doc do? |

A sleep doctor will look for things getting in the way of sleep, might recommend meds and/or a sleep study, etc. I have been thinking of you, wondering how you are doing. ![]() WC

I have sleep apnea for around 20 yrs. Have used capo n bipap machines. Now on an IVAPS machine. Definately helps my sleep. I take sleep meds along w this plus oxygen when I sleep, which was also discovered on the sleep test. I still wake up at times during the night but fall right back to sleep. I was also getting constant migraine headaches which stopped on capo therapy. Yes I still have insomnia issues but it's so much less. I would never not use my machine. When electricity is out I run it on a separate backup battery.

Yes I had difficulty sleeping for the study. It took 3 of them to finally get me all set up. Of course that was a long time ago. Don't let them try to talk u out of taking yr regular meds including sleeping meds if u take them. It's part of your normal routine n that is what they need to test. Also if you are absolutely unable to sleep on yr back insist that they don't try to make you. That is why I never slept on my 1st study.

This is a major point of concern.
My first consult wanted to send me to a counselor for sleep hygiene; yet, I don't need to go to group for sleep hygiene! Lol! I am getting a different consult and I hope he has some ideas of how to handle this issue. I hope you are doing better. ![]() WC
