I have a grounding box, so usually I'll just get something out of that box, hold it in my hands, and try and focus on it.

ocasionally I'll just have what I like to call blackouts, which is when it gets so bad I just shut down... I am still alive and breathing, but unable to function- from a distance it looks like I am ignoring you, I'm not, I just can't.... uh, react to anything

imagine it like... an emotional coma. that's it- because my physical body is perfectly here and alive, but I'm not at the same time..

question:

do you think you are making good progress in your bipolar treatment?

why or why not

I’d have to say mediocre. Some days/weeks are ok to good others are hellish and then there’s the in between. I’d be happier without the nasty thoughts screaming at me and it’s accomanying anxiety. Med review next month with pdoc.

Q. Is a sore/painful/nervous/churning stomach one of your symptoms and if so how long does it last or is it chronic? (And any suggested remedies?)

pepermint tea always helps me with a bad stomach (among other things)

I think it must be something in the drink that calms the system

question: when was the last time you truly felt happy, and what was it that made you feel that way?

I guess today. I was helping this boy with his essay, and when he got up to leave at the end of the period, he looked at me and said, “thank you.” Just a little thing, but it was touching coming from an adolescent.

Q: What is a personality trait that you wish you had (or had more of)?

Being less generous. Less spender. Pinch pennies.
But that would be someone else, not me. Why change now?.

Who is your favorite character from the comic books.
Go ahead. You don't hafta say Superman, unless you mean it.
I'll respect your opinion.

Cheers.

Hmm? I didn't read many comic books. Occasionally I'd look at the comics section of the newspaper. I really liked Snoopy (cool dude animal), always had a soft spot for Charlie Brown, and kind of facination for Lucy (from Charlie Brown), though she definitely was far from perfect. I'll confess to being a huge Bugs Bunny fan (though I guess he was only a cartoon character), but really the Charlie Brown characters were more like real people. I also really liked the cartoon Casper the friendly ghost. I wasn't so into typical super heroes.

What is one of your fondest childhood moments?

I think I was around 2.5 years old. I was sitting on my grandmother's kitchen floor while she cooked at the stove. I was surrounded by pots and pans, a plastic bowl or two, and I had a wooden spoon held high in the air, sure to come banging down on something. That grandmother practically was a second mom to me, so it's a fond memory. She raised 5 kids of her own in a tiny house, so I guess noise didn't bother her much, considering they couldn't go outside in rainy weather.

Who is your favorite fictional character from a book or a movie and why?

Anne of Green Gables. I think I identified with her and her stories are so well written I've read them over and over. They are one of the few things I can read when I'm having a bad episode.

Are you good at confronting peoople/organizations with complaints about service?

Yes, I am fortunate, as I can usually get results. As I am getting older, I find this increasingly stressful.

Which are your top three favorite fruits?

Sometimes. I go through phases. I love fruits and veggies, so that’s never really an issue. But I also love sweets ~~ cake, cookies, pie, candy, I love it all!! When I get stressed, my diet becomes a little more animal cracker and skittles heavy than is appropriate.

Question: Do you speak another language? If so, how did you learn it? If not, is there one you would like to learn?

Thanks for this!

I don't speak any other languages.

during school I had to take one, so I took french- though most of the time I just looked away and didn't consontrate. we played a board game in french class and because I couldn't speak the language, I'd lean over and trash the board.

italian would be nice to learn, it sounds really good

also spanish or greek.

question:

how did you do in school?. bad, average, or better than average

In my earliest years in school, I thought homework was optional. That was obviously problematic. I didn't always pay attention in class, either, because I loved to daydream. However, in middle and high school I became more interested in studies, especially after quitting ballet. I became the type that always raised her hand to participate. My graduating class was very small (25) because it was a small private school. I feel a little embarrassed and hesitant to write that I was the class valedictorian.

When I went on to university I did well, but not extremely well. I had some rough semesters mood-wise, and took some classes that were not my forte. I graduated with honors in my major, but just under honors overall. I have taken additional college courses, for credits, since graduation. They included International Relations, Intro to Psych, Abnormal Psych, and Developmental Psych. I got an A- or A in all of these. I also audited Cognitive Psychology.

Years back, just after college graduation, I continued my studies of Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan R.O.C. I did OK while those studies lasted, but they were cut short due to mania and depression. Living abroad was very stressful for me.

What was your favorite subject in high school and/or college?

it was the only one I'd actually pay attention in

I loved henry the 8th. thought it was brilliant.

question:

are you the type of person who would try new and exotic foods if visiting a tropical country, or would you just stick to what you know?

I would try some foods for sure, and I could see me saying no to a few because I just can see that with me.

Do you like certain foods during certain times, or is the like and dislike of food something that is constant for you?

Citalopram. Nothing happened that I recall. I think I just kept getting worse. It wasn’t a good med for me, but I wasn’t able to explain what was happening in my mind very well, so I think they were just guessing at what would help.

How do you stay organized?

my cds and dvds are in order of what type they are- so comedies on one shelf, dramas on another, and with cd it's split by pop, rock, RNB, etc.
I try to follow a rooteen too- I'll eat breakfast at a certain time, I'll play my trivia, I'll check emails etc etc, all at a certain time.

I love rooteen

as for the rest of my house though, it's not organized. it looks like someone came in here and made it in to the crystal maze.

how important are birthdays to you. do you celebrate?
