When I stopped Latuda in early September I immediately started to have self-harm thoughts. I didn't act on them because I was getting married in less than two weeks. But after the wedding the thoughts became worse and worse and I started to have delusions that angels/God were communicating with me and telling me to hurt myself. I got to the point were I honestly believed that my self harming would bring forth something new and wonderful. I lost insight completely. So I went ahead and acted on what the supernatural world wanted me to do and had to go to the emergency room for stitches. Then from the ER directly to the hospital.
I hate hospital, but this stay was actually helpful. My pdoc wanted to start clozapine, and being IP allowed me to go from 25-150mg in a week. So far the only side effects are drooling at night and very mild tachycardia. They also weaned me down to a smaller dose of clonazepam, which I wanted. I also found out that the Luvox has been working for my anxiety/OCD. I couldn't take it for a few days because it was out of stock, and my OCD came back full force. Once I restarted the Luvox I chilled out considerably. My only complaint at the moment is that I'm having lots of mild auditory hallucinations. Sounds like chatter in a large dining hall or something, just catching snippets of conversation. I hope it'll go away with the help of a higher dose of clozapine. So anyway, I'm back! New meds, new academic semester, bring it on.

I'm glad the clozaril is helping. It's been amazing for me. I needed about 200-250 mg to really respond fully and 350 mg helps with nearly everything except what seems to be seasonal hallucinations. I've gone from a nearly constant mixed episode to having distinct episodes and times my symptoms are more mild which is as good as I've ever been and it feels great.
I have been told that clozaril can increase OCD symptoms. I don't know if that's true or not or even if it is true for me (I think so but don't track it and at 2.5 years on clozaril this is my normal now; I think I remember being bothered a bit more early on) but it is something to be aware of. Congratulations on your marriage! I hope great things come from clozaril for you.
