Especially when you are tired all the time and depressed. I used to love my job but then I got blacklisted. Now they make it impossible for me to work.

I was in the hospital 6 times in 2 years. Then one of my bosses started bullying me. He blamed me for everything. I had to drop off the projects and I got blacklisted because of it.

That’s a really tough situation. It’s so alienating when people do stuff like that. Then when you don’t magically respond to their brand of “tough love,” it just further proves o them that YOU are the one who is deficient.

Are you in a position where you can start out smaller — like part-time or at a very small business?

Tell me about it. I've pretty much given up on it. I think unless I had the wherewithal to do eBay or Amazon Marketplace, possibly I could...or possibly not. Definitely it wouldn't make full-time work.

I am not crafty, able to knit or chrochet or sew interesting purses the way one lady in my book club does. She sells her purses on Etsy and does quite well with it though she still has a regular 9-5 job.

Job hunting is actually easy if you work a job most ppl look down on. If you can keep in mind your value/worth is not based on what type of job you do, you can be employed tomorrow, no questions asked. If you think your worth/value decreases or increases depending on your job title, then you need to speak with a Therapist bc your self esteem and insecurity is what's holding you back, not lack of employment.

Unless you live in the back woods there isnt a reason you cant have a jod today, yes today. Now go gettem tiger, let us know tomorrow how your first day was.

I think this is not what the OP is meaning. We are talking about the struggle of job hunting while suffering from the effects of depression and also how having bipolar stigmatizes us in the workforce. It's nothing to do with job title.

Ok my apology,. Because I dont have any disorders holding me back it's not easy relating. I personally dont thnk personally disorders should hold you back from working. I know quite a few ppl actually who are taking meds for both depression and BP, they lead v successful lives, finding employment isnt or has never been an issue.

Bipolar Disorder is not a personality disorder. Additionally all disorders effect people differently. Even if you know a thousand people with the same disorders, you dont know me. I appreciate that your advice is well meaning, but it's a tad bit naieve. It's great that you believe in people with mental illnesses, but when you say it shouldnt hold people back from working that is incredibly judgemental.

I really like what I do and want to stay but my bosses spread rumors about me and won’t put me on projects it makes it hard to not be irritable everyday. I have been trying to transfer internally but that is when I found out I had been blacklisted. I should have sued them when I had the chance but I wanted to stay. Plus it is not a big field so jobs are limited.

I do not think black listing is legal. I remember reading about this. However, they can call your past employers. With all the jobs that I have had, this only happened once or twice. Most employers do not call the previous employers. Even if they did, past employers will likely only tell them that you worked there, and nothing else. They are liability shy.
