My employer threatened to take disciplinary action against me. They also won’t help me look for work but say no whenever I ask for projects. They are being completely unreasonable. I am so about to lose it. I have been blacklisted and there is nothing I can do about it.

Do you have record of last performance reviews? That can be used as ammo when someone is trying to push you out of a job! I did that a couple years ago and presented it to the Director. They eventually left me alone!! Don’t allow miserable people to make you miserable OR BULLY YOU!! There should be some group within your org who will listen and make note of how they’re trying to abuse you. Use the resources provided to you on the job!! Make the written rules work AGAINST your enemies!! God bless you!!!

Was there a specific incident that caused your employer to say that?

I forced them to give me a new supervisor because my old one was spreading rumors about me. They fought back hard but I won. Now they are retaliating for that. I am going to talk to the accommodations guy next week again. He said before that they are supposed to help me find work.

The more I read about retaliation in the workplace the more it fits to a tee. I really wish I could get them all fired. The two years of hell they put me through and they didn’t even get a slap on the wrist. I thought it was all behind us but I guess not.

My new boss won’t let me tell her about the history of what happened. So I can’t get her to understand. She only knows what management has told her. This all started because of hospitalization that I had.

I have been in your shoes before; it sucks when your employer wants to treat you like crap because you have a health condition. My boss really liked to realitiate against me too; the day I was terminated she honestly told me I would never work in healthcare that she would personally ruin my name because I talked to loud to a patient on the phone. Jokes on her I did much better than that place ever could have done for me. I've been in your shoes before and I hope things go much better for you. I'm always here if you ever want to talk.

It really sucks when your employer views you more as a liability than a valuable asset.

I asked her if for my accommodations that my task leaders could send one email instead of multiple because that can get confusing and overwhelming and she said no that was too much to ask of them.

I spent hours yesterday trying to write a resume. It is hard to try and talk yourself up when you are depressed.

Wow I just got in trouble for not completing a task on time. First I was given no time frame. Second I was given the task Friday at 8:54am and asked if I was finished at 4:02pm that afternoon. I mean it is not like I was in the middle of doing something else at the time and couldn’t get to it yet.

Document everything. Write the entire history of what has happened.
But put most of your energy into going forward: your resume, networking. I recommend getting one of those books on the hidden job market, searching for jobs by avoiding the heavy competition on internet job boards by going directly to employer websites, etc.
Don’t get stuck thinking about how they treated you. Imagine you are turning off those thoughts by using a switch in your head. Onward and upward!
Many of us find it easier to work at home and there really are legitimate telecommuting and freelance jobs. Sometimes you have to start out in-house to get those. Hugs!

TW: I have been feeling really down and suicidal trying to work and find a new job. A headhunter called but the jobs he offered were too far away. I have been thinking a lot that if I kill myself before I get fired my family will at least get $700000 in life insurance rather than nothing.

Crook32, please call your psychiatrist and/or therapist immediately. You need help from people on your side. Go to the ER or call 911 if you are a potential harm to yourself. Who cares about your stupid employer! They know nothing and their ignorance is extreme. Things will work out. You are important and we want you here and will support you through this.

Hugs,

Get away from this job however you can — these people are truly toxic. Not every employer will be disgusting like this. Could you explore less stressful jobs? We’re all behind you. Never, never let bad people get you down.

I have always feared losing my job. I just never thought it would be this way. Going to the hospital started all this. I just wish the 3 people who did this to me would get what they deserve. However I know they won’t and that kills me. Almost 20 years with the company and all of that is destroyed by 3 people.

I agree that you need to stay safe.

Also, I think most life insurance policies won't pay if the death is by suicide. So you would only be causing your family grief, and they would get nothing.

Our work policy has a suicide clause. They would get the value of the policy from 2 years ago.

Trying to find work but it is not easy. I was thinking that 2 years ago they accused me of using my work phone for games and Facebook and wasn’t working. I proved them wrong. Now they say whenever I use my phone it looks bad even when I am working. But it just dawned on me that if they really had issues with it they would have taken the phone. So the real point is just to harass me. Other people use their phone more than me and I see them not doing work.

Please stay safe, Crook. You'll get past these numnuts and their antics. Might be hard to see now, but you can.
