I got over some of my rituals. I tend to get really obsessive and hadn't realized that I had been forcing myself to eat the same exact thing every day out of fear that something would happen.
So, I know it's not a big deal but I just had a bagel for breakfast! I bought some chicken too (I'm afraid of eating meat at home) which I will try and cook tomorrow. Have you made any small but significant milestones lately? |

I have the same thing for breakfast every day too(!), but don't consider it one of my "something bad will happen if I don't" compulsions. Doing things in certain repetition of number is a different story...
Hmm, small but significant.... Joined a couple of meet up groups and have gone to a couple meet ups. I've not gone places with people in that way in a very long time (many years). |

I got past some agoraphobia and mild phobias, but that was a few years ago. As for lately, nothing significant. I guess some of my old assertiveness has returned.
Congratulations to you and the others for your accomplishments! These are great steps. |

Good to hear clydeblack.
I used to eat a cheese sandwich every morning for about six years for the same reason. I stopped that a awhile back, but just now realized that i've been eating pb&j sandwiches every morning for about a year instead |

I am beginning to realize why I stopped going to therapy. My last two therapist were working with me on exposure therapy and although I am continuously exposing myself to my fears and phobias, they don't go away completely. I have managed to adjust a few of my compulsive thoughts and actions into healthier ones. And I've learned different ways of overcoming panic attacks when they happen.

That is awesome! I had this ritual (back from the severe days of my ED) when I would pick the chocolate chips out of chocolate chip bagels and eat them one by one. I think it took me 10 years to stop doing that, helped by the fact I no longer live 5 minutes from a bagel/coffee shop.
I have one ritual I wish I could break but don't think it's possible at this point. Again, when my ED was bad, I started clenching and grinding my teeth while asleep. Even with proper nutrition, I still clench (though the grinding stopped). Apparently, that can be caused by lack of nutrients. I have broken so many teeth that way. I still clench super hard overnight. I have a nightguard and can usually keep it in 5 days a week or so (used to pull it out in my sleep nightly). I used to bite my nails a lot and realized at some point I had just stopped doing it, but it was nothing I had to make an effort to quit. I do like to eat soup for lunch when H is at work and my daughter at school, different varieties though and usually with different fruit or veggies or yogurt. Not completely the same. But I would eat a sandwich for dinner every night if I could. I hate cooking. No option with a family though. __________________ Bipolar 1, PTSD, anorexia, panic disorder, ADHD Seroquel, Cymbalta, propanolol, buspirone, Trazodone, gabapentin, lamotrigine, hydroxyzine, There's a crack in everything. I emailed a few schools for more information on their programs. Anything that has anything to do with goals or the future at all is hard for me so even a couple emails was a big step. Nice post and congrulations! The size of the victory doesnt matter all progress is important
