I occasionally find mind myself having a conversation out loud to myself in public or in the car, is this normal for BP2? I recently decided to accept the fact that I have it and wondering what should be considered ok. Any thoughts?

I have entire conversations with myself, with my cats, and with loved ones who aren't really there, but I do so in my home. Or in my car. If you're having conversations out loud in public (so that others can hear you) I wouldn't consider that typical for BD2.

Welcome to the forums! hope you find lots of good information. You said you were newly diagnosed I think so I'll give you my standard new/trying to com to terms with it all, www.psychinformation.org It's written by a psychiatrist who specializes in BP and has tons of information. On to your actual question:

I don't think it is necessarily because I have bipolar but I do find myself talking to myself a lot at home (I live alone), nearly as much in the car and sometimes back when I could go in stores I'd whisper to myself if I was getting frustrated with where things were, the cost, etc I don't think anyone ever noticed as I never got a weird look. That's he thing about humans, we're so stuck on ourselves it takes a lot for someone else to notice.

I talk to myself outloud several times per day, including in public, sometimes. I don't know if it's related to bipolar disorder. I think some people without mental illness do the same, sometimes. I will say that mine increases in public when I am hypomanic and manic. I assume it has to do with disinhibition. Otherwise, I find doing so self-soothing or a tension release. Question is do you care if you do so and/or others hear you? I generally don't, especially when hypomanic or manic. Or, depending on what I say that shouldn't be heard.

In general, I am not worried about judgement from others, unless it's a result of something I said/did that affects them negatively.

i do talk to myself sometimes although not out loud, at least i think it could be considered talking to myself, and i don't have bipolar. i'd say it isn't particuarly unusual but i may be wrong of course. If it bothers you it may be good to contact your doctors and/or therapist otherwise i wouldn't worry about it too much if it doesn't create any particular problems. Sending many Safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @gottagetup, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

I do this but I have Bipolar 1 and I guess you could say Psychosis.... I talk to people I see. It happens every day but I only do it when alone. I listen to music to stop me doing it outside. But I see people all the time I can just control not to talk all the time to them
