That's usually what I do when I start getting anxious; or say the Serenity Prayer. My Therapist also taught me to picture a happy place so if I start getting anxious, irritated, or mad I imagine I am on the Eiffel Tower lawn at night when the light show happens; a light breezing ruffling my hair; the smell of wine. That really helps until I open my eyes and I am not in France.

I like to imagine being out in the snow under the aurora borealis

I got a Fitbit Charge 3 for Christmas last year (but I got it Black Friday-long story of procrastination) and it has an app that guides you through breathing exercises that I have found surprisingly helpful as I've had several panic attacks in the last week and all but one have calmed down some with this app. It's really simple, just inhale exhale and it shows how well you are following but after 2 minutes of focusing on it I have always been at least a little calmer. I'll be glad for this as I keep going through my klonopin taper in the next few months.

What gets you out of anxiety? (besides meds)

I used to drink to deal with anxiety,

now I drink hot water flavored with stevia,

sometimes hot tea but lately just hot water,
holding on to the cup as a buffer between people.
jeff is going to a big gathering tomorrow with

a friend of his. I do not want to go, lots of food and drinking.
I don't want to be tempted food wise. It is a christmas party and I won't know any one. So I am not going. Glad that hubby is going with his friend. He wanted to go but would not go alone.
So that is how I am dealing with my anxiety.

For me if I don't have a chance to take a pill. Grounding technique works pretty well for me. It at least takes the edge off.

The only thing that has worked for me is to perform something that requires intense focus and so it distracts my mind from the anxiety.
Lately that has been an audio file to learn speaking Spanish, I know weird, but it works for me
Works especially well in the car when i'm stuck in traffic( i get claustrophobia bad when i'm in a depressive episode)
