Do any of you suffer from chronic heartburn from your meds? Did any of the meds in my signature give you heartburn? Thanks.

I do suffer chronic heartburn from Seroquel granted it's listed as GERD as a dx; so Seroquel induced GERD. I haven't taken anything in your signature so I can't comment on those but Seroquel is terrible if I don't have my Prilozec.

I was in the clinical trials on welbutrin. I stopped it because of the heartburn. Since then I have had to take prilosec. A few years back a doctor insisted I try the welbutrin again N wouldn't listen to my objections. Despite still taking the prilosec I had breakthrough heartburn and again stopped the welbutrin. So for me, yes, welbutrin does cause heartburn.

I have breakthrough on the prilosec too. I would hate for it to be wellbutrin because it is a great drug for me.

I developed "silent GERD" from one med. The symptoms scared me. It started out with feeling like I had a lump in my throat all of the time. I was cutting more and more foods out of my diet because the "lump" feeling would get worse with certain foods. I googled obsessively. Some of the online info helped; a lot of it terrified me. After about 9 months I was so fearful that I just walked into my GP's office one day and told them I had to see her. Well, she suggested that my condition was most likely a med side effect. She prescribed Prilosec. I took it for about a month or two and the scary symptoms went away.
It seems to me that I have also had heartburn in the past as a side effect. One thing I will add. For whatever reason, OTC Prilosec did not help my GERD at all. Even though the prescription appeared to be the same medication, it helped. |

Protonix was incredible for me, but I was terrified of the stomach cancer risk increase. I don't know how much it increases your risk, but it's Rx only. You could try asking about that.
I think Lamictal gives me the GERD symptoms, FWIW. |

I'm not on much, mirtazapine, lithium, wellbutrin, and occasional xanax, but none of them give me heartburn. I dont tend to ever get heartburn though, maybe thats why, no sure. Only time i ever do is fried foods like donuts/fish and chips, so i just no longer eat them.

I never had heartburn until the welbutrin. I m on prescription prilosec. Proteomic doesn't work for me. Just the prescription prilosec. No other psych med gave me heartburn. But we are all different in how our bodies react to meds.

Protronix. My spelling program changed the word on me without me noticing.

I used to suffer a lot from heartburn and indigestion. Really, a good chunk of my life since maybe 14 years old. I'm in my mid 40s now. Though I can't be sure if any medications exacerbated it along the way, I can say I had it more before taking any kind of medication than when I was (have been) on medications. I think one of the main causes for my gastrointestinal distress has been stress. I noticed it more when elevated in mood than not.
Knock on wood, I've had relatively little heartburn and indigestion in recent years. Only on rare occasions, while earlier in my life it almost seemed constant. My husband used to make fun of how many Tums I used to take. Nowadays I prefer Alka Seltzer fruit chewables. They are much more pleasant than Tums. When it's bad, I take a Nexium. Do talk to your doctors (not just your psychiatrist, but your GP) about these issues. Also be sure that any OTC relief aids are OK with all of your medications. I may be remembering wrong, but I think I was told to avoid certain antacids when I took Lithium. |

I have been on Wellbutrin for over 10 years and never once did I get heartburn. But I also never get heartburn from any foods. I guess I just don't have the acid reflux issue that some others do.
