Today marks the 20th anniversary of my most serious suicide attempt. At the time i was isolated, living in an empty apartment, no food in the kitchen, being reckless and loose with men, off meds and money running out.

Now i have three families: one with my dog, one with my Scrabble mates and one with my neighbors in our condominium. I have a comfortable home, a stocked kitchen, i haven't done more than shake a man's hand this millennium, i'm on good meds and i have a steady, decent income.

And i'm glad to be alive!

I'm so happy for you, whatever2013! No matter how bad things look, they can always get better. I think it's important to remember our past experiences, even just to see how far we've come and all the progress we made. So thank you for sharing this! I hope your future will be even better. Thanks for sharing your success! I guess it's been about 10 years since my last attempt. I actually don't recall exactly when it was.

we're glad you're alive too.

I have an important day coming up as well (one I'd never thought I'd see), but will post about it nearer the time
