On Sunday, I forgot to put Klonopin in my pill box for the week. I didn't realize until yesterday.

I used to take 1mg in the morning for anxiety and I (still) take 1mg at bedtime for anxiety and sleep. It knocks me out. So imagine how tired I am during the day after having taken it.

My memory is CRAP. I can't remember what people tell me or what I've told them from one day or one week to the next. It's gotten so bad, that I asked my PCP for a referral to a neurologist to evaluate my cognition.

But since I stopped taking the morning Klonopin (and I KNOW it should be tapered, it was, initially, a mistake), I have far more energy, I'm doing my job better (even received a kudos yesterday), feel happier, and overall, just -good.

I don't plan on going back on the morning dose.

In fact, a pdoc told me that Klonopin is often the culprit when it comes to cognitive problems.

Has anyone gone off of Klonopin cold turkey (if you had a morning dose)? If so, how did you feel afterwards? For those who have tapered off of it, did you feel a lot better after having given it up? Did you have more energy?

The only downsides are my hands shaking a bit, hot flashes (unless I suddenly am going through menopause), and a lot of trouble sleeping even though I'm taking the night dose. But I have felt it's all worth it because I feel SO much better!

I went off Klonopin cold turkey and did not feel any effects, but then I was not feeling any effects of it when I was taking it. It was supposed to help with sleep, but was useless. My experience is not a guide though, as I can stop any medication cold turkey without withdrawal symptoms, and most people cannot. The important part is that YOU are feeling better. Do not go back to the dose that was making YOU feeling worse.

Some people have nightmare experiences others don't. I have gone off and on benzo's with no problems just some extra anxiety.

Glad you safely got off it. , I was tricked once IP to d/c Xanax.

Phenobarbital was used, holy hell I didn’t know who I was or where I was for 2 days. My husband exploded as on the phone I didn’t know who I was or who was. He drove 110 miles to get to me. At first I barely knew it was him.

He was the weekend Pdoc , we had a meeting with my IP Pdoc and he didn’t agree with what happened.

I refuse to have that asss hole near me at next iP stays.

My pdoc And T sent Vanderbilt a letter to the admin of psych services.

I refused to go back on Xanax for at least 5 months because I was scared to ever have to do that again. My Pdoc finally convinced me my overwhelming anxiety daily was destroying me so I went back on it and after the second dose I felt like I could finally take a deep breath.

Glad your feeling better
