If this is not the right chat to post this in I'm sorry I will remove it. If not I will finish below .

My question is , can you have both ADHD and BIPOLAR? I do have a family history of both ADHD and BIPOLAR but I'm not sure how to ask my pdoc about testing me for it....? The main reason I'm concerned is because I've been writing down goals and one of them is to try to take some college classes. School has always been difficult for me due to concentration issues ( since a very young age ) problems with anger in my teenage years , combined with a multitude of other issues I have .... I feel lost. If anyone has any advice that would be great .

Have a nice night

Yes you can, I am both ADHD and BPII ( and other stuff). The ADHD has been there since I was a kid but untreated and the BPII showed up when I was 16. I was properly treated for the BPII when I was 22. Then the adhd when I was 24.

Sure you can. I would not let this however limit your goals. There are ways incidentally of working around such things. Talk to a guidance counselor and academic adviser at the post secondary institution you wish to attend. Your ADHD could qualify you for educational assistance. My University had such help available for things such as note taking for you at your lectures, someone to assist you with test taking, someone to type and prepare your notes for you, and more.

Thank you for your answer because I sure if age was a factor in diagnoses ? I mean I've heard of adults having it but I just wasn't sure. Thank you for your response !

Thank you ! That's great advice. I wish I could have had some help in high school but I think I was overlooked. There were 35 kids in each classroom so the teachers didn't pay to much attention to any one student. I'm excited to take course Thank you so much for your imput

Don't worry, BP1beauty, this forum is the right one I agree wqith what all the others have already wisely said better than I ever could. You've been given some great advice in this thread. I'd suggest to try to follow it if you can. I believe you can definitely have both ADHD and Bipolar, as this thread has already shown. Lots of people have both. I'd suggest to talk to your Pdoc about this and see how it goes from there. Hopefully he/she will be able to help you. You deserve to get the treatmend you need and deserve. He/she's there to help you, after all. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll go well in college, you just need to get treatment and assistance. You have every right to be helped if you have a problem. Try to speak up if you can! You have every right to do that. I hope things will go well for you. I hope you'll be able to get the help you need and deserve. You deserve to get better and to feel good. You deserve to live a good life just like everyone else. You deserve help. You deserve love. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be able to get through all of this. Just try to do your best. That's all you can do after all. It's more than enough. Trust me when I say that. We're here for you as well if you need to talk about it! We'll listen to what you have to say and won't judge you. I promise you that. Please don't give up. Remember that we're here for you if you need it. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. You're a strong, wonderful person. Stay strong, BP1beauty. Stay safe and take care of yourself. You're awesome! You're strong! You're a warrior! Keep fighting! Sending many hugs to you
