My father brought me to the ER about two weeks ago in a mixed episode and since then I've been IP; I just was discharged today. I got a med overhaul since and am now on a lower dose of Zyprexa and a pretty decent dose of Geodon. I also had my diagnosis change to schizoaffective bipolar type. My hospitalization wasn't a pleasant experience but I learned if I'm having symptoms to call my pdoc and at least give him a chance to help.
Going to be cliche here but thank you guys for all your love and support, I need to listen to my supports more often I guess. |

Thanks for the update, spikes. I'm glad you're home and I hope your medications serve you well. I'm sorry the experience was rough.
You know, these past 8 years, I have had a number of full blown manias (some with psychosis), plenty of depression, and many many hypomanias that luckily didn't reach full blown. However, I have managed to avoid the hospital these past 8 years, after almost 4 years of numerous hospitalizations. The reason was because my husband (or I, myself) has contacted my psychiatrist as soon as possible. My psychiatrist has been able to handle my episodes on his own during this period. That's been so good for me in many ways, including financially. Please do call your pdoc for help when you need it. |

Welcome home! It's good to have you back. I hope the med overhaul does the trick.

So thankful you updated us so we can support you. Hospitalisations can really do our head in. Geodon got me out of a severe mixed episode with psychosis. I have now been stable for two months. Which is a long time for me. I hope your new med regime helps you find stability.

So glad your back! I know hospital stays are often unpleasant but sometimes you can walk away with new meds, new experiences and a new look on life after it. I know I changed a lot after being hospitalized last year, so you know, just look forward to a great future now.
Happy that you're home now ![]()

Hey spikes,
From your earlier posts it seem you were going through a rough period with a lot of symptoms and, if I recall correctly, akathesia for awhile so hopefully you will be feeling better and better as time goes on. I was last hospitalized a year and half ago and am hoping that is my last one ever. Where I live it is a rough experience and I never felt treated like a human being IP. Are you going to be doing IOP?

I got a lot out of my IOP the last time I was hospitalized. I hope you find it helpful if you decide on it. I know it isn't easy, but you're fighting the good fight. Welcome back.
