I have plans to call and start getting in with a mental health provider tomorrow morning; but I need some suggestions on things I can do to calm myself down and work things out for myself when I get suddenly irritable and depressed. Music normally helps, but I’m at a loss of what I want to listen to lately, so I want to try to find something else I could do to calm down. Any suggestions are welcome

There are infinite coping skills you can use. Different methods work for different people and what works today may be a complete fail tomorrow. Here's a list of 99 coping skills to try. Maybe one of these will work for you at some point.
99 Coping Skills I think the key is being self aware enough to realize you need to lean on a coping skill and making yourself do it. |

I love music too but also have times where simply choosing a song does my head in, as does any choice. It is a horrible state to be in so I’m sorry you’re suffering. I’m those situations I tend to get outside for as long as I can manage, tidy my flat, make a hot drink, or at my worst curl up in a ball on my bed so at least I’m safe. It depends on how bad you are suffering as to what coping skill will work. Be kind to yourself. Keep searching for options. Hopefully soon you will find what is right for you.

I don’t journal; though I have noticed that what calms me down changes pretty often to where I’m not 100% sure what will help. Music has always been my go to, and then I use to read all the time. Now, it seems like I’m not interested in reading anymore and that all I seem to do it work, come home, watch some tv, eat and go to bed; repeat. Thank you, I am also hoping that I’m able to get some help here as well. |

I work in a call center; and for the most part, I do enjoy it. Sure there’s bad days and stressful days, but for the most part I enjoy it and it’s been better on my mental health compared to when I worked Healthcare. Working Healthcare had me so stressed out that I would hear my name being called and no one was calling me. So compared to my last profession, this is definitely better. |

It takes a special person to work in a call center -- my first job was working in a call center. I couldn't handle the stress of call after call after all back to back with no break, rude people, the pressure to sell.. it was ridiculous for me. I commend you for your work!

Thank you! For the most part it wasn’t bad, but now I’ll be starting with a different line group, so it’ll be different. |
