I ate a double ice cream cone tonight. I did walk a lot. That is all.

I can get away with just one teaspoon because I then I drink at least 30 Oz of water which gives me a full feeling then I brush my teeth. I think that helps the most , I finish a meal and then brush my teeth , if I think about another trip to the kitchen to graze I think “ but my teeth are nice and clean “ I brush my teeth on average 5-6 times a day. My husband and I can easily go through sometimes 8 gallons of water in about 4 days. It really helps curb my appetite. Although of course I’d damn sure rather it be ice cream lol __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

Jennifer and Christina, it's great to read about your healthy steps to improving physical health. A lot of people here are doing positive things. Fern, again, thanks for creating this thread!
This weekend, I wasn't perfect about my eating but considering my loss (my bird boy) I did OK. I'm getting back on track again. |

This has been a good thread for me too. I hope we can keep it up and continue with another when we reach the thread limit. Our physical health is a key component to maintaining balance mentally and it can be hard work to do both. Thanks to all of you for sharing your journeys with me and for encouraging me along mine.
BirdDancer, maybe you can think of your weekend eating as a cheat day. Some diets include those because they claim they help to boost your metabolism after it gets used to a reduced calorie intake. Silver lining? I went over my calories by 30 yesterday. An extra serving of a delicious salad put me over the top. I'm not feeling bad about that. I already have my meals planned out for today and I'll be able to stay well within my limits. I swam yesterday instead of circuit training. It was a nice change of pace. I start circuit training with heavier weights today. I can already anticipate sore muscles. |

I’ve been gone from this thread for awhile. Dieting just got too hard, as it usually does for me, and I wasn’t seeing results anyway, which was discouraging for me. I’m back up to my original weight, probably heavier. I have decided to try low carb again. I’m not a big fan of low carb because I love snacks like chips and I love bread and pasta. But I have decided to go “low-ish” carb instead of intensely low carb. I’m doing under 100 grams a day. I was eating 200-300 grams a day (yeah I was pigging out ). I’ve done research and people still lose weight at 100 grams a day. My mother in law lost 85 pounds by eating 120 carbs a day for diabetes. So as long as I can sustain it I should be fine. I just have to commit to eating this way. Since I’m allowing myself to have 100 grams a day, I was still able to have taco shells with my tacos last night, along with the meat and cheese and sour cream. Tonight we are having Chinese food and I will have boneless spare ribs and chicken lo mein, but I will only have a little bit of lo mein. Focus on the meat. I’m going to make deviled eggs today for snacks. I bought cheese sticks, baby carrots, and plain Greek yogurt for snacks too. And cheddar cheese babybel and Parmesan cheese chunks. Yeah a lot of cheese lol and yes you can get constipated on low carb 😂. I’ll try to increase my fiber to combat that!
I’ve had good results with this before; I lost nearly twenty pounds the last time I tried. Of course I was eating less than 50 carbs a day instead of 100 but I think if I faithfully stick to it I should be good. We are having a cookout this Saturday to celebrate our new home and that will be hard but I’m going to get a fruit and veggie tray and make dips to go with it. It’ll be ok. I’m going to try to watch calories too even though on low carb calories aren’t supposed to matter as much. Yesterday I ate a **** ton of food and even though I didn’t go over my carbs I went waAaaaY over on calories and I figure that can’t be good. So yeah, that’s the journey I’m taking! Looking forward to joining this group again and seeing everyone’s progress! __________________ Of course it is happening inside your head. wildflowerchild25, I am losing good weight on 135 g of total carbs per day, though I also eat low fat. I've read that recommended weight loss ranges can even go to 150 g total carbs per day. Perhaps even more for some people. I try to lean towards healthier carbs (higher fiber whole grains, unrefined sugars). In the end, it all comes down to calories and calories burned. I choose the more low fat eating plan because my cholesterol is much higher than my triglycerides and glucose levels. I keep my saturated fats down pretty low, too. The fats I do eat I try to keep as healthier fats.
I see my 135 g of total carbs per day as semi-low carb. Like you, I have trouble limiting my total carb intake too much. For me, very low carb would never be sustainable unless I was threatened with imminent death if I ate more. When I tried to stay even below 60 g NET carbs per day, it was hard for me. I did it, and lost good weight, but resented that I felt deprived and felt like I was unable to eat some healthful vegetables and fruits. Lower fat diets are a bit easier for me. Whatever works best for people and meets their health goal objectives. |

Wildflowerchild, welcome back! It sounds like you have set healthy and attainable goals for yourself. I'm excited for you. We all lose a battle here and there, but over time we can win the war. Your party sounds like fun. I hope it goes just as you are hoping for. Congrats on your new place.
I had to adjust my eating to do more than just cut back on the sugar to get the scale to move. I have been exercising regularly, so that was a little frustrating but I am already in a groove with my new eating plan. It allows me to eat 185 carbs a day. That's more than doable for me. I'm also sticking to goals for carlories and fats. So far, so good. I weigh myself tomorrow and I'll keep everyone posted. |

I weighed in this morning and I'm down 3 lbs after adjusting my eating for a week. I'm very happy with that. 5 more to go and then I'll be back to my ideal weight.

Stayed under carbs and calories yesterday. On track for today. I have to find some low carb breakfast ideas though. Getting tired of eggs already!

I started weight watchers with my mom and then ended up IP with crappy hospital food. But I’m down about 4 pounds so far which is more than I can say for the last time I tried eating healthy. I still have a lot to lose but this gives me a least a little hope that maybe I can lose it.

I do not believe I could ever go below 40 g net carbs without being severely miserable. If you need to stay in or below that range, I don't have any suggestions. |

I remembered a cream cheese pancake recipe I made a few times when I was super low carb. They were really good paired with sugar free syrup! Plus I have plain yogurt and berries. __________________ Of course it is happening inside your head. But why on earth should that mean that it is not real? -Albus Dumbledore That’s life. Great reading! Thanks everyone!
I have to get very serious. Am gaining a lot on Seroquel! I cannot control the great hunger and the cravings! I had lost 30pounds just before going back on an AP. Interesting to read about diverse approaches and related suggestions. : ) Thank you! __________________ May we each fully claim the courage to live from our hearts, to allow Love, Faith and Hope to enLighten our paths. |

I stayed under carbs yesterday but went way over in calories again. It will be interesting to see if I actually lose weight like this. I actually don’t know my starting weight because I left my scale at my mom’s but it I have a good idea of what it was. I’ll grab my scale from my moms house soon so I can start tracking.
Today I am trying to plan my carbs around the fact that we’re going to go to the movies and I’m going to want popcorn. Popcorn is carby. But it’s so delicious! I can’t go to the movies and not get movie popcorn lol. So I’m allowing for that. I almost had a bagel this morning but settled for eggs and bacon instead. I did sort of a southwestern eggs kind of thing so it wasn’t boring like it has been. Scrambled eggs, cheese, taco sauce and sour cream. Sounds gross I know but it was soooo good! I love sour cream lol. Not sure what we are going to do for dinner. I don’t feel like cooking today and I don’t have any meat out thawing so I’m not sure. I want tuna salad from the sub shop but I don’t think they are open late today because of the holiday. So we will see. __________________ Of course it is happening inside your head. Getting out of the shower I damn near hit the floor again , I have a bath mat/rug as I get out so it’s not like I’m slipping on water. I have no idea what’s going on but it’s becoming a problem.
