I saw my PDOC this morning. She made a comment that my cocktail is pretty refined now. She did say, though, that we might add Cogentin if my Haldol twitches get too bothersome. I've been on bipolar meds since 2005. (I didn't say "psych meds" because I'd been on Zoloft and Celexa as part of my "depression" prevention/treatments before my diagnosis.

I feel that's nice that she said that- the seroquel and haldol did knock me out of the mania recently- but on the other hand, my episodes seem so random most of the time. This last time I'd stopped my Seroquel because she said to! Have the card she wrote it on still. So I think maybe the statement shouldve been something like "You've got the perfect coctail for now..."

I agree with what you think she should have said. It would still be positive, but likely more realistic. Most all of us will need a change eventually, even in what was/is a "perfect" cocktail. Bipolar disorder is a changing beast. Life situations and stressors bring change. We've got to just go for the ride and adjust as necessary.

That's a good answer. It's great you were able to adjust your meds last time and stay out of hospital.

I agree. I also find meds treat some of my symptoms but not all of them. Bipolar also has many symptoms. That's why people are on so many different meds sometimes.

For instance my psychosis seems controlled but not my depression. I can take wellbutrin but that only helps me if I am extremely depressed and then I am just back to my normal depression. It doesn't help me any further, nor does anything else I have tried.
