I went to see my pdoc today. Even though I feel that my mania has resolved since May, my after appointment summary for today says, "bipolar disorder, manic, severe, with psychotic features". Is this basically like saying "most recent episode..."?

Yes, it definitely can mean that. If you really want to know, do ask your doctor.

That would be my guess. Or it could be like "you do get manic, your condition is severe, and you have psychotic features." I wouldn't put too much thought into it.

I would def ask for clarification on that Moose72 but yeah, it sounds like that could be it. be totally open about any concerns you have. wishing you well.

Hey Moose!

Is there something you disagree with in that diagnosis description?
If so, please make that known to your provider.

I think it could refer to the latest episode and/or to your overall diagnosis (especially for insurance purposes). However, the only way to be sure is to ask your provider.

I hope you are enjoying your day!
It is a gorgeous day here today!

I'm wondering what does "severely manic" mean? When and how does it become "severe"?

I wonder, too!

I wonder if there is an official "scale"that is used to make that determination or if it is a matter of each practitioner's interpretation?

How does it make you feel to see that diagnostic information written about you?
(I often feel both perplexed and a bit sad when I see info like this on me.)

I think I'd ask my pdoc to explain more the next time I saw my pdoc.

Enjoying the day?

I think I have a pretty good idea what severe mania is. It could include one or more factors, I think; length, how incapable of managing in society a person is (scariness, degree of potential harm to oneself/others, incapability of basic self-care, violence, disinhibition, and/or other things), and disconnection with reality.

When I see things like this, I feel that that's not me. That they are misenterpretiing things. But today my pdoc actually said that manic people dont know how high theyve gotten basically. I know thay has to be true with me because I watch myself doing these things but I feel "fine" i guess its a gradual metamorphosis.

Yes today is good. Thanks for asking. Saw a friend and came home to clean. So far got the dishes done and vaccuumed the downstairs and stairs and part of my bedroom. Watching hulu for a bit.

wow! It sounds like you have gotten a lot done!

Wanna come to my house and help me to clean it up some?

Yes, I feel weird, too, when I see reports about me/my diagnoses. It feels so impersonal to me.

I am glad you are having a good day!

I have about the same diagnosis. It’s just the overall illness I have , umbrella of “ billable problems”

My Pdoc doesn’t change my diagnosis each time.

I honestly don’t care if they call it a green spotted purple donkey with a side of ice cream sprinkles.

All I care about it just staying as well as possible.

Labels have never been a problem for me. I have more important battles to have.

“ most “ people forget the super highs and super lows and it’s a blessing..

I’ve never had anything taken away from my diagnosis, they just keep adding...
