I have been taking cytomel for bipolar depression. At first at 25mg I thought it was stabilising my mood, but I was feeling very warm. Since reaching 75 my anxiety, tinnitus and rapid cycling has really worsened and my depression too.

Wondered if this has happened to anyone else? Would a switch to t4 work as I have seen this suggested, maybe start with a low dose and if I start getting warm etc. move back down?

Thanks in advance

Hi rovers95, welcome to the PC Bipolar Forum.
I hope you find the information and the support you may be seeking.

I am no expert in the use of cytomel. I can tell you that I have known of several people with BP experiencing exacerbation of illness in a big way, when taking cytomel.
This is not hard evidence; it is anecdotal, at best.

As for which choice of treatment is best, that type of information and recommendation must come from a medical professional and/or your doctor and/or your pharmacist. If your prescribing doctor is not sure of what to do and/or you need additional help, ask to be referred to a specialist. ( I think that would be an endocrinologist?).

I hope you find help from your healthcare team. If it is causing an exacerbation, please do let the prescribing doctor know right away.
