For the moment, I'll leave the answers to others: I have to get ready for work!
But I'm very curious what people have to say. As we know, when people with Bipolar Disorder are not in an episode (and 'typical' would be just a couple of times a year, 'rapid cycling,' 4 or so times a year), we are just...us. Who we are, warts and all. Given this, I think that we're perfectly capable of doing fairly outrageous things when NOT in an episode. What's the most outrageous thing you've done when not in a hypo/manic episode? And, conversely, when and how depressed have you become when not in a depressive state (due to grief, or in response to any other issue)? __________________ Bipolar 1 Lamictal: 400 mg Latuda: 60mg Klonopin: 1 mg Propranolol: 10 mg Zoloft: 100 mg Temazepam: 15 mg Zyprexa 5-10mg prn (for Central Pain Syndrome: methadone 20 mg; for chronic back pain: meloxicam 15 mg; for migraines: prochlorperazine prn) |

Sometimes it's hard to know if some wild actions were me or some level of mania. In any case, I can be a very outspoken and self confident person by nature. Because of that, I have said things most wouldn't. I have no qualms writing letters to famous people, telling wait staff how the chef could improve a dish (or what I disliked about it), etc.
I love humour and have said many humourous things many wouldn't say. I love to dance and feel I have often been the best dancer at places. I never felt reluctant to show that off. I have flashed my husband in the grocery store many times when likely stable. I like his reactions. I was already mixed manic when my mother died, but think I had pure grief only when my nephew and various pets passed away. I could function better than if purely depressed. |

I'm a very reserved/shy and introverted person when not in an episode so I can't recall anything too outrageous that I've done. I guess the most spontaneous thing was to take a random trip to georgia to see my boyfriend at the time while he was in basic training with a friend of his doing the driving (we drove from Kentucky down to GA). I never met his friend before the day we went on the trip so that was unusual of me to do but I didn't feel too uncomfortable with it because it was a really good friend of his who was in the army and he was a very trustworthy person. It was a great decision and I had a lot of fun. I'm not sure if I was hypomanic, I guess it's possible but there were no negative consequences and I'm still friends with my ex, so no bad memories.

I think this one may count. During a concert, I shut off power to the stage. The stage went black and silent. There were only 3,000 people there, so not that big of a deal,

One thing that comes to mind is when I was about 20 (long time ago) I was in my hotel room with big windows overlooking a courtyard. I took off my shirt and bra and flashed a group of business men who were having a meeting in the courtyard.

Does this whole "flashing" thing have something to do with where we're from? LOL! I think I once told you that I'm originally from pretty much where you indicate you're from. I currently live about 15 miles from there. |

Before I was diagnosed, on the spur of the moment, I drove from Michigan to Georgia to see a "buddy" that I met online and talked to a lot on the phone. I stayed the weekend at his place and he kicked me out when I refused sex with him!

I wish I knew how to answer your question, Gabyunbound. I still can't quite firgure the difference between things I do when manic and things I do when I'm not. I guess the first thought that comes to mind is getting my tattoos and piercings. I wasn't manic when I had those done; I just really wanted them
